But many thousands of her target audience will disagree; there's something in all artistic fields that separates the average jobbing artist from the superstar, and it's not just marketing hype as you seem to believe; it's called 'talent'. To translate that talent into a different language (especially from that most flexible of all languages, English) also takes a special talent, and no doubt the official translator was carefully chosen rather than any old agency interpreter hired. Go read an instruction manual translation for an idea of what can result from inferior language skills.

For some kid to bang out his version on the internet does nobody any favours, unless he has skills nobody's seen any reason to mention. :sigh:

It's Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder Akava, I enjoyed reading her books. I generally enjoy reading as it's my escapism. I like reading LOTR and the Eragon Series. As well as Terry Pratchett, but despite the fact that most retailers put TP in the kids section, 90% of kids aren't educated enough to understand the jokes in the Discworld series.

Yes, you have a point that many will disagree, but i did not say that it was all about media hype... Which is of course why i said feel free to flame me, because people tend not to get the point you are making. And i understand that the translation has to be done carefuly, i didn't say he was right to have done it.

For some kid to bang out his version on the internet does nobody any harm either.

Agreed, it is, im sure that they may be good for some, but after having them SHOVED in my face over and over again, i decided i wasn't interested.
I havn't said that people shouldn't read them, i have simply said i do not wish too, and that the Child, which lets face it, he is, doesn't deserve to be charged with fraud any more that the vast amount of people who have backed up their DVD's and CD's ect. to their computers.
Afaik he hasn't made any profit, and as mentioned it won't make a dent in JK's profits, because as also mentioned, anyone that wants to read it properly will wait for the offcial release, to make sure it is properly translated.
