hey guys, sweet forums! so i have an idea that i cant seem to find through google. i have a portable dvd player which i have lost the chords to. power, a/v, battery etc. i was thinking that i could remove the lcd from the player and mount it on a 360 much like people have done with the psone lcd. would this be a possibility before i tear this thing apart? any input would be great!
If you look on the base it should tell you a voltage and current, it may tell you the polarity as well and a good shop like Maplins (ahem) will help you to find the right adapter that fits
Look up Ben Heck's 360 laptop for help/ideas. You don't need to go as complex as he did, but the basics will be the same(ish). http://benheck.com/04-25-2007/xbox-360-laptop-making-of He also has several more 360 laptops, so take a look around at em, might give you an idea.
ya, i've seen the whole 360 laptop mod.... very impressive! however i am like you said not going to that extent (although a battery power source would be pretty straight forward...) i have noticed that on the base of the unit, there is a switch which allows you to use the aux as input or output... this may complicate things.... i also have uploaded some pictures sorry for the massive size but it helps with detail i guess! (a little large b/c they were taken w/ a 5 mpxl cell phone) i have just taken of the wiring... maybe someone can help me figure this stuff out! here i have taken a somewhat blurry zoomed out picture of the overall project: this is obviously the wires to the speakers. these branch off of the main bundle of wiring from the base of the dvd player to the lcd: here going off to the bottom left is the main bundle of wiring from the base. these connect to what must be the controller and if i can figure what wire is for the a/v input i should be able to tap into it. (correct me if im wrong please): now begins where i am confused... first of all this is to the left of the above image (you can see the clip so you can tell this by yourself i believe that thgis is the electrical wiring for the lcd. which would make the black ground, and the yellow/red pos/ neg? and last but not least the picture of where the two wires from the "electrical wiring board" (made up term) connect to the lcd. so please dont bite my head off cause i think this is a stretch, but if i were to leave all this intact and just tap into my aux input wire, i could use the method used by ben heck to power my lcd....... i need suggestions plz!!! and if anyone notices that i guessed something wrong, please correct me... thanks!
Unless I'm mistaken, the red is 5v pos, yellow is 12v pos, and black is negative. as for the white wire I have no idea what that could be and uploading to photobucket and using the auto resize tool will help the sizing issue (640x480 is the usual size)
i've figured it would be easier to remove all mechanical dvd drive etc... then i will mount the boards to the back of the lcd, then usse the power source board by soldering it to the 360 powersupply... much like ben heck did. that way i can tap into more than enough power while maintaining the easy aux in switch/ plugin thing/contrast and brightness nobs that are on the mobo
