Hey guys. This is my first time doing this on a forum and first scratch build but hopefully ill make some sense My problem is i have 1.5tb in 2 external hdd 750gb in my desktop and 320gb in my laptop and all are very close to full, and i dont really want to add another 2 or 3 tb external hdd to carry around when ever i go anywhere so i though i would build a small server, to fix the storage problem, that can then be used to stream movies, music, photos etc to a tv or pc whenever i want. If there is a better way of doing this? Am i going to far by wanting to build a server? My desktop is in an antec 900 case and i want to make this as dust free as possible from the motherboard and cables, so i have designed the cases with ducts that will take the heat away from the PSU and drive bays to prevent this. im also using a corsair h50 so the rad can be externaly mounted. Here are the specs that im thinking for it: Zotac H55-ITX (ITX motherboard with usb3 and sata 6, socket 1156) 3tb deskstar (6gb's 7200RPM) 1X 4gb ddr3 (1066mhz) core i3 560 3.33ghz (4mb cache) Startech 4 drive trayless hotswap Slot load bluray drive Designs of what i want it to look like (not at all to scale): Design 1: however i realised that the side vents blowing air across the board defeats the object of no dust so stopped this one and moved to: Design 2: no vents on the windows or sides across the board. the bottom right hole is for the PSU, the one to the left of that is for the HDD and the black sqaure is the radiator with the fan on the front. This shows the hole when the air sucked in by the radiator will be pushed back out from the top. or Design 3: Im planning on 2 or 3 or possibly another way i can't decide which looks best? The reason why the Motherboard is mounted sideways is because im planning on getting the parts then putting them in all different possible position until i can get the smallest size box that it will all fit in nicely. And the black slot on the left hand side on the front it the slot load bluray drive. So the designs will get better as i go along. Thanks SKL BOI
