Did the coop with a friend. Found it cool but too easy, stuff started to be interesting at the last 2 levels.

Will be download Portal 2 for the Long Weekend. Just wondered how long it took everyone to complete the original Portal and if Portal 2 is a longer game.

Portal is a sub-2 hour game. Portal 2 is a 8-hour game for singleplayer and 4 hours for coop. If you are a speedrunner or superman, then it's 6+3 :).

agreed. I loved the game to bits and have been praising it since it came out but the coop really disappointed me. The longest we were challenged by a puzzle was about 5minutes and there were no difficult move to pull off. I didn't mind that the single was easy because it was extremely immersive but I expected the multiplayer to be about 5 times tougher.

Let's hope for content updates :thumb:

agreed, the singleplayer was easy, but still incredibly good. I finished it in about 7 hours (bought the game and finished it 7 hours later :) ).

But I just don't see the multiplayer having a lot of replayabality value, or in general, the whole game having much to offer except those 11 hours of brilliant awesomness.

I'm at the end! Didn't have time to do a second run at it last night, and I have to go to work in a min.
I'm surprised it's so similar to the end of portal 1. Just with one pass at it I'm confident I can do it the second time.

Another thing. Wheatley's accent is perfect. Valve are American.. how did they know to do that (cast a west country person, as I'm sure that's a genuine accent)? I mean.. to most Americans an English accent is an English accent isn't it? Everytime Americans do English accents in films they never use regional accents... just a standard RP accent, or cockney... although Brad Pitt was good in Snatch.. so maybe I'm talking bollox.. but then again, that was a bit of a stereotyped Irish accent, not English, so that doesn't count.

Total playing time so far is around 5 hours. I was expecting it to be harder, but it was still a great game.

    Loved
    the old test facilities
    and back story suggestions re:
    who GlaDOS is...
unless these become more than suggestions at the every end. (Don't tell me).

Wheatley is voiced by Stephen Merchant, an english actor and comedian. So that accent is genuine

Valve (or at least some of their employees) listen to the ricky gervais/steve merchant/karl pilkington podcasts and thought of using him from them.

While trying to find myself a new text message alert I unpacked the portal 2 sounds and decided I wanted to know what Glados was saying when she explained about one of the test chambers in super speed:

"...and methodically knocking people's hats off--then, I account it high time to get to sea as soon as I can."

A Moby Dick quote...I was a little disappointed.

haha, it's really easy once you know.

    1. Go HERE and download GCFScape for your OS then install it.

    2. Open up GCFScape

    3. Then File > Open and go to C: > Program files > Steam > Steam Apps > Common > Portal 2 > Portal2, then open the file named "pak01_dir.vpk" (This is dependant on your OS, so 'Program files (x86) if you are on 64bit)

From here you just need to use the search function in GCFScape to find the character/object sound folders you want. This is a bit tricky because if you search "Turret" or "Glados" it will show you a list of 5/6 folders, you just need to randomly select a folder and hope you choose the one with the wavs in it. If you don't find it you can't just go back to the search page by clicking back, you have to do the search again and remember which folders you've looked in.

Once you've found the file you want, just right click it in GCFScape and click 'extract' and send it where you want it. Bingo!

I did a Games Dev degree and my team used the Orange Box engine for our project so we used GCFScape almost daily, it's pretty awesome for finding new ring tones and such.

You can also use it on your Portal 1 files to get the Still Alive MP3 :thumb:
