Progress in work - the LCD frame.

Here in comparison with the previous mod.

I still have to do the back cover.

Frame has already been veneered and I've glued both sides.

And here's a first sample of inlays.

LCD cover is almost ready. Just some little details and final sanding left.

Yet a little something. Frame with inlay. Think of color as an illustration. I just wanted to highlight the brass. Finally color will be darker.

Nice. I really like the copper inlays you have done. Very cool work indeed.

Now I have a question for wiser than myself. I hope the guys from LC could help me:)
    Do you remember my distiller?

I've cut off the glass stubs extending on the sides. Otherwise it wouldn't come into the pipe.

And now what I want to achieve.
Glue in this place some stubs to LC. Except that I do not know what kind of glue to use to stick it to the glass. The second problem is that I will set the tube in to the pipe. I can not glue the stubs, and then make it through the brass. I want to drill a hole in the brass - may be greater, and only through this hole fix them in distiller . Maybe silicone used for aquariums would be good enough? Or maybe one of you has a different idea how to solve this?

Not my sort of mod - but interesting nonetheless (and I love glasswork). Keep up the excellent work!

    Wow this looks good!

Regrettably i'm very late joining the party due being sans-t'interweb (accursed part-time contract resulting in next to nothin in SSP, but i digress) and could have made suggestions.

Wheelwrights would boil their lengths of wood to allow them to achieve the incredible flexibility required to create a complete wheel rim. In the instance of your monitor arm i'm fairly sure that slow gradual bending combined with liberal use of a steam cleaner gun could have allowed for the degree of flexibility which you required. (note i say 'could', i can't guarantee it but have had some success with lesser bends for other non-modding projects)

But alas you have already surpassed this stage with a workaround which has, in my opinion, a really nice finish after that waxing (i presume waxing at least). The contrast between the darkened grain and shiny metal is fantastic.

Are you still going to run a liquid through it? I'm not sure what you'll be able to use and keep it leak free. The glass and brass will change shape with temp changes. You might be able to get away with a crap ton of silicone, but I'd keep an eye on it.

I'm sure that in a right circumstances and with right equipment I could bend it. But I don't have them in my workshop. I've tried boiling with no luck. I've needed at least press and form.

Yes. I want to use it as a reservoir. And that's why I'm asking for yours advice. My last LC mod is 10 years old.

Today, some pictures of the work progress.

I finished veneered components. I hope that nothing else left to veneer.

I'm slowly adding inlays. Well, it's good that I remembered about annealing brass. It goes much easier.

    I've mounted LCD arm.

And for the dessert a package with LC connectors.

A basic case block looks like this.

Now it's time to assembly all components. The first element is a distiller.
    I have three choices.

At the front. It would be embedded lower - more fits into the shape of a "saddle".

Behind the screen, but also low.

Or the last option. Behind the screen, but raised higher.

    EDIT

That's how it would look like.

    EDIT2

Something like this would be a best choice for me.

I just dont know, if the glass is strong enough, and dont break when I will be mounting it. I'm a little scared of that.

And which option would you chose?

I really like the second one. What would be really cool, would be to pull some el wire through the curly part and just use the chiller as the res. Crap ton of silicone "should" keep it from leaking. Hard part is going to be filling it.
