I hope this is the right place to place this thread. My computer acts as if it is demonic. It will not shutoff when I plug the computer in. I have to pull the plug to shut if off. However it does not fully load, the fans run and nothing else happens. There is no loading of an operating system. Help me please. Thank you for any assistance and sorry if this the wrong place.:wallbash::sigh:

By the sound of it, you don't need us , you need a priest to perform an exorcism on it.

If the exorcism doesn't work, try checking the PSU first, make sure you have power going to the mobo, the mobo itself could be at fault failing that, but if it is the PSU and it still won't boot, it's quite possible that by having to kill the system rather than shutting it down properly, you .may have corrupted the OS or the bootloader .

First I'd unplug everything not needed from the motherboard, any PCI cards, usb connectors, front pannel connectors, HDD and optical connectors; see if this does anything. Then try reseating the RAM and using 1 stick. Failing that your going to need to get parts tested. In my experience its ususlly an old PCI card thats gone duff or the motherboard has gone pop.

    1. Test if the PSU is at fault.
Unplug everything, plug a fan back in (can use cd-drive or anything on the 12v rail)
Get the big plug and short the green and one of the black wires together (don't worry about the electric it's very low voltage)
If you get activity on the 12v rail, it would suggest something else is at fault.
    Plug everything back in.

    2. Test the ram, if you have more than one stick, remove one stick of ram and boot. Repeat this process until you have tested all your ram pieces. If you still have the problem it's not your ram.

    3. Unplug your video card, try running from some on-board graphics or a 2nd graphics card.
If you still get the same problem, plug it back in, it's not this.

How far do you get into booting into your OS? What do you see on your screen immediately before it goes off? Could do with some information on what computer it is.

I fear it may be a motherboard issue here if you have passed the above tests and would suggest to take it back to the shop you bought it from ( if it's pre built, send the whole computer).

Check your BIOS if you can get that far for an option that boots the computer on power resume.

This computer is a store bought Acer with modifications. I have tried removing the ram and putting it one stick at a time. I have tried removing everything that is not mandatory. Nothing boots, no OS or bios screen. Thank you for any assistance.
