I think my GPU may be overheating while thermal monitors seem to say otherwise. They say it's around 50 degrees while on the back plate of the card, feels much hotter than that. Will my close proximity to my CPU cooler be a factor, seeing as I have no side ventilation on my case? Just so you can picture what my system is like. I have a; Antec DF-85 Case ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z Be Quiet! Dark Rock PRO CPU cooler (Very large) A KFA2 GTX580 1.5GB Anarchy edition in the 1st PCI-E slot on my motherboard When it 'overheats' the game freezes up and becomes unresponsive and various green and purple rectangles appear on the screen, sometimes connected by 1 pixel wide lines, arranged in vertical lines. What could be my problem? By the way, i'm using the 285.83 Beta drivers from nVidia, have tried all back to the 270 set.
If it's out of warranty then probably not, unless Blogins knows some law that states otherwise that is You've had it longer than 2 years I'm guessing? KFA warranty is 2 years according to their site.
Assuming you bought it new, how much did it cost? If it was a reasonable amount Id' say SOGA and 'durability' should be your friend as I'd expect something costing a reasonable amount to last substantially more than 2 years.
The 580's were only released about this time last year i think, should still be in warranty, but does say on the site that you have to validate purchase within 30 days.
Had it for 2 months... You think I can go back to Scan and say it's not "Fit for purpose" because it's supposed to last in excess of three years? Another thing which might boost my return. I bought the KFA2 STANDARD version and they gave me the ANARCHY edition from scan, if I go back and say "After recent review of my receipt, I was given the wrong item and i'd like my original purchase" or something along those lines
If you've had it for 2 months its not out of RMA period - which is 1 year with scan and two years with KFA2. However, I think in actual fact, because you were given the Anarchy edition and accepted it, they might say, 'thats not the product we sold you'.
50-60 degrees on full load. But anyway, progress report; I've moved it to the 2nd slot instead of being so close to my CPU cooler, and the backplate has cooled down more, still saying the same GPU temps, but the backplate is no longer a frying pan.. Problem seems to have vanished because if I ran prime95 and furmark, it did the 'problem', now I ran them for an hour and no issues
