3 weeks ago I spent two days on site in my site boots which are slightly too loose. The result of doing this is the blister shown below. I have had it for 3 weeks with no change, I have been wearing sandals the whole time to give it some room.

It doesn't seem to be relenting so I am not sure what to do as it is likely that I will have to wear some smart shoes for a day or two to some meetings in the near future and it is very painful to do so with this thing!

I have searched the web and apparently I shouldn't pop the blister but... what do you think?

I'd pop it and then shove a blister plaster on it. Usually works for me!

EDIT: Make sure you sterilise whatever you use to pop it though, and then keep it clean.

The day longweight realised his dependence on this forum was too great. Be a man, make your own non-technical related decisions

I can see how that might be misinterpreted. It was a lighthearted rib because you're grossing me out right now :)

If it's got anything in it, you've gotta do it. It's not going to go away; the body doesn't have any way to reabsorb the fluid, nor would you really want it to since it's there for antiseptic purposes (and I would guess is now septic to some percentage, if it's done its job).

Also wow, this just ruined my breakfast.

I haven't been man enough to click the picture. I applaud that you didn't hot link the image, as by the time I had decided that I didn't want to see the inside of this thread I had already clicked it, and had the image been hotlinked it would be too late and my eyes would have seen what I think they never want to see (After reading the comments above).

But yeah, pop it! And buy some nice boots that fit better :)

I didn't want to upset anyone with a hotlink image :)

My boots are great and very comfy but I didn't tie them up well enough and 33 hours in two days destroyed my heel.

What you do is pop it with a needle from the floor side of the foot.

    so:

    There

So that the fluid will drip out the bottom, but keep the skin on top to prevent infection.

How long did it take you to sort that out, Lance. I like it.

Longweight - the other thing you could pop on it once it's burst is some Hypafix - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hypafix-Adhesive-Dressing-Retention-meter/dp/B003L87EKC

It's good for burns and blisters etc and just stays on until the offending injury is healed :thumb:

    Nice!

I'm not sure how sore it will be as it has had 3 weeks to regrow the skin underneath...

Aha yes - true. The skin will most likely be soft underneath though.

Pop it, soak in salt water or dab with meths, it'll sting a bit.

I have never had a blister last 3 weeks, that is also worth some credit! I didn't think they could stick around for that long.

33 hours is 2 days is not fun at all.

A rusty nail sticking out of some rotten wood should do it
