I am pondering this idea conceptually, not really for anything in particular. When you are using a linear pot in a blend configuration, what does changing the pot value do to the sweep or tone assuming it is also a linear pot?

    500K for humbuckers
    250K for single coil
    25K for active pickups

You may find lower values attenuate higher frequencies slightly (making a 'warmer' tone), but the difference is negligible. The value is more important for signal strength reasons.

Oh I'm sorry, I should have clarified. Forgot this forum wasn't solely stompboxes. I mean like in the realm of an effect pedal's blend control. Take the Muff tone circuit for example. One side is a high pass and one side is a low pass and the Tone knob blends between them. The Tone knob is 100k Lin by default, but would you notice any difference through changing the pot value? The pot's resistance is not part of either RC filter.

You won't notice any change in tone. By going higher you'll just decrease the output volume (so if you have a volume control on the output of the pedal it'll sweep through lower values).

Thanks. How come there would be more volume output? I thought the only time you got volume gain with a larger pot resistance is when one end is tied to ground.

I meant higher using a higher resistance potentiometer causes the output signal to be lower.
