I have a air powered Potato Cannon and I came up with a idea to put some kind of bullet that can be fired out of the pipe but when it reaches peak heighth open some kind of wings to make it able to glide for a little way before coming down. I have tried a few diffrent ways one was to just make a bullet to tow a paper airplane up but when it starts to come back down it would let go of the paper airplane but the problem with that is that it ripped the paper airplane up BAD. My other idea was to take a paper towel tube and cut it to about 4 inches long, seal and weight(very little) it at one end and make wings with straws, a spring and a plastic bag. I made it in a V shape and it opened and everything but it was not enough surface area to keep up the weight. So this is where everyone here comes in. Some kind of bullet needs to seal the 2 inch barrel, paper towel tubes work good and tops of plastic bottles do too. It can be 4ft. long. It has to be able to withstand 100 psi. though. The problem is that if it's to light it won't go hardly anywhere but if it weighs to much it will just fall right back down.
make sure the "bullet" is balancing the plane, not holding it on one side too much, if that doesnt work, add more weight to the back for launch weight.
