    With reference to the below circuit, is it possible to use some 10K Pots in place of the Rehostats.......its just I have loads hanging about and thought I might as well use them on something constructive

    no

    pots are adjustable in an analogue since, as in there is an inifnte number of possibilites between 1 and 0 with a pot

    a rheostat is a adjustable resistor which has fixed levels between 1 and 0...

    arrrr, good, I dont look as stupid now, phewww!!!

    So could I use a Pot instead, or will it not work

    10k pots are designed to carry a milliamp or so, a fan will burn one out.

    Rheostats are low resistance, wire-wound, and designed to carry higher currents.

    So they're very similar, but don't do the same job.

    cheers cpemma, do you have a mapln code or link to them cause I cant find the on the site, and the code given in the article is wrong
