    Red Hat 9 issue

for some wierd reason when I get to the end of my shutdown session screen, the words "Power Down" appear but the computer doesn't turn off

the harddrives have been halted but the computer will not turn off automatically

i recently installed it onto a new drive and this is the first problem and the first time I have experienced this with linux...I have installed the same OS onto many other systems before

i have an updated bios and a good mobo (abit IC7) which is able to carry out the auto-turn off feature (i know this because it does it with windows)

    please help!

ok, this isnt such a terrible problem.
first of all, since rh9 is a dated distro, you might not see support for all of the advanced acpi stuff.
in the bios, what is your power button set to.
It is probably safe to just turn it off once that happens.
