I would like to do this:
    http://www.g4techtv.com/videos/index.html?video_key=8884
but WITHOUT cutting my power cables, so I need to get the plugs, both male and female.

I have a Westell Wirespeed modem and a Microsoft MN 740 router. Anyone know how to tell what plugs I would need and where to get them.

you shouldn't worry about cutting the cables - it's easy if you just get the right tool. you could save moeny too, and have the tool at the end of it all too!

unless there's another reason you can't cut the wires?

Take the wall wart into Radio Shack or a similiar place and they should be able to hook you up. This is one of those things I wouldn't buy until after I've physically checked the fit of the plug.

I think POE is good when placing a Access point out of reach of a power slot ..... or if you are setting up a access point outside

    :)

The only reason i can see it not working is the voltage drop. Because the parts are cheap (unless you have to get them couriered to you), i would say just make it, with the rj45 plugs, and try it with a long network cable. But i am going to have to try it
I just found the article for the poe, http://www.nycwireless.net/poe/ it looks the same as what was posted on that link earlier, but in article form.

That is what I am looking to do. I just need to find the connectors.
