okay im looking at getting a small power supply to power 2 items
    item A: 12VDC, 3.99A, 4.79W
    item B: 12VDC, 0.69A, 8.3W

if you only need 12v then something like this should be all you need.

If you know what you're doing with regard to wiring/drawing power from the right places, then yes.

well each item is going to be running on 12 V
one is a fan, and one is another item
(just wait for the build log to get all of the blanks filled in :D )

    shouldn't that be 47.9 Watts?

only thing you have to worry about is in-rush current. that is when you first turn something on, it draws a lot more current than during normal steady state operation. see if the 2 items spec in rush current, then use that to calculate your watts.

I think the Disturbed one may have meant 0.399A (vs 3.99) @ 12V for a total of 4.79W for item A.

Then again, maybe he really needs that 1.21 Gigawatts for the flux capacitor? What do I know?
