I have an amd xp 1800+ cpu, abit kr7a-raid mobo atattched to this i have two hard drives a cd-rom drive a floppy drive and three 80mm thermaltake fans, on the mobo i have geforce3 ti500 and an audigy player.
All supplied by an 300 watt psu!!
The problem started today when i purchased a brand new cd rw 32x 12x 48x made by Cyber Drive. At first i connected it to the machine as per instructions, connected everything backup and nothing, the drive light did not come on, everything else that worked before still worked. So i took it back and was given a replacement got home installed the drive and again nothing, now this to me is the wierd bit i can get it to work intermitently, i have noticed that the +5v reading has gone up from 4.78 to 4.92.

It seems as i would be very unlucky to have got two dodgy drives, especially as the guy said he tested the first one and it worked ok.

The question is am i expecting to run to much from the 300w psu, should i need to upgrade ?.
