I am having problems with my powerbook charging.

The charger LED never changes to green anymore even if the charge reaches 100%. It also takes forever to reach 100% charge now (charging slows right down above 90%). I tried a reset of the power unit thingy that was suggested on the apple support forums but that didn't seem to do anything.

This problem only appeared after installing Tiger so I am wondering if anyone else is having problems after upgrading.

The unit is over a year old now so maybe the battery is getting a bit tired. I might invest in a new one and hope it solves the problem.

Try a program called iBatt it gives some important info on your batteries state and may give you some clues as to whats happening :)

Doesn't bode well what grade does it give you on the statistics page? I've got a A+ as mine is brand new.

Had no probs with mine - my PB's over a year old now as well, and it's been upgraded to Tiger... Have you tried completely running the battery down and then charging it up, like you're supposed to when you first get it to calibrate the battery condition monitor? Maybe the battery has got it's knickers in a knot and isn't properly reporting the charge correctly.

According to iBatt, my battery is Grade C:

    C-

Now that the max charge has reduced the charger actually goes green again when it reaches 100% charge although it still takes forever to reach 100% above 80% it's really slow.

I think I will get a new battery after I finish my degree.
