On my next project I plan to integrate my little 5-port Netgear hub into my case. However I don't want to have to have the power adapter in there as well, as it means it will take up one extra socket and this thing is going to be designed to be portable. On the adapter it says "Output DC 7.5V 800mA". Can I use my PSU to power this, perhaps with a resistor or two? -Sam
I'll be brief, since techincally I'm not supposed to be viewing the forums right now Resistor: no. Regulator: yes. Most likely input has +5v regulator, so you can bypass and power off of +5vSB line (SB because people might prefer to stay connected if your computer is off).
