    Hi all
First of all, sorry if this is in the wrong area. Couldn’t decide between electronics and this forum, anyway

I have been playing around with my WaterChill for the last week
originally I had the radiator mounted on the exhaust of my lian li case with a 80-120mm adaptor. looked nice but didn’t perform too well. 46c load on 1.75v on my 2500xp-m. eventually I ended up removing the radiator and leaving it outside of the case with the pipes going out of a pci bracket. much better temps, 40 load.

now I have this fan attached to the rad.
    T/TAKE A1927 12CM THUNDERBLADE

"Rated Current 0.38A Connector 4 Pin
Power Input 4.56W Wire Length 770mm"

I decided to attach it to a wall wart so it would be less messy. added bonus is that I can use the voltage selection on it to adjust the fan speed! now the spec on the back of the wall wart say

    "master plug
    ac-dc adaptor
    output 3,4.5,6,7.5,9,12v dc
    1200mA"

    I just want to know
    1 if this is safe!
2 if I leave the fan on and the computer off over night, am I risking any condensation (don’t laugh this is my first water cooler!)
3 is there any neat barbs or attachments I could use to route the pipes out of the case alla zalman water cooler?
4 thereis a speed monitoring cable from the fan, just wondering if its ok to plug this into the computer but power the fan from the wall wart?

    Thanks for the help

the neatest way of routing the pipes out would be pushfit bulkhead connectors and a couple of holes drilled in the back of the case.

A SMC KQ2E10-00 is at £4.05+VAT from farnell, but there are a few other manufacturers (legris, norgren) and suppliers (see links and there are a few more I know).

    EDIT
(Btw the min order at farnell is £20, but I've got an order going in next week and actuall have one fitting going spare that I can discount a touch - let me know)

    hi risky
    thanks for the reply
i would indeed be intrested in 2 of those fittings and some of that lovely legris tubing! about 5 m of the stuff if poss. just 1 question, does the tube push into these fittings like with the rest of the waterchill stuff?

tell me how much you would like for this lot and when you would expect to get it.

i was also going to get some of these

i was wondering what size hole i would need for those fittings?

Yes, you could use the universal adaptor for the fan, provided you trust it enought that it won't fail and leave your system fanless.

You wouldn't have to worry about condensation, that only occurs when the comp is below ambient, which is impossible with regular water cooling or air cooling.

If you were to hook up the RPM wire to the motherboard, you would have to have a lead attaching the - on the wall mart to the case frame or a black wire in the case. Or if the adaptor has a ground pin, and the - wire and the ground pin are connnected, it would work then. But there has to be a common ground somehow.
