News Prince of Persia PC is DRM-free

Ubisoft has officially confirmed reports that the PC version of Prince of Persia will be free of any DRM.

 

a game that gets an 8 on bit-tech and has no DRM... i will buy it... as soon as i upgrade my computer.

 

lets all just go out and buy a copy even if we don tplay it to support DRM free

Though it doesn't actually look too bad anyway but its still above what I want to pay (£20) for it.

 

Tim already has. I think it'll help to balance out the fact that he bought three copies of BioShock.

 

Two. One PC and one Xbox 360 version.

And yes, it's only the fourth game I've bought this year and I've returned two of those because of DRM (Spore and GTA IV). Typically, I'd buy quite a few more games in a year, but nothing has really grabbed me so far.

 

Two on top of the previous three?! You've got a problem. It was a good game, but nobody needs to buy five copies of it!

 

I think i really will buy a copy of this, if only to get my girlfriend gaming a bit (pretty pictures + immortality = girlyWIN).

Ofcourse it will be pirated, I hope that they do the fair thing and only draw conclusions if it is pirated more than games with DRM.

 

I'll get one for myself as soon as I wander near some game store. I may get the Prince Of Persia Triple Pack too as it is so cheap. Never play the first games.

 

This will be pirated to hell like all games, the people who say DRm forces people to pirate are full of it.

Too bad it's a piece of crap.

They want to see how the market reacts, do this with a decent game. This seems like an excuse to say 'oh look they even bought less of this than our DRM'd triple-A blockbuster titles! funny how that works! we're DRMing everything now.'

 

I bought it last week. It has no DRM and doesn't even require the DVD to be in the drive to play. And it's a good game.

 

Also it doen't require a CD key.

question: why use DRM?

Yes you're right about the possibility of this being a sacrificial lamb... The point is that it *will* be pirated no matter what you do.. the question will be how much less it would have sold had it been DRM'ed... something of course that can only be guessed.
Nonetheless I may well buy it to support this and hope many others will too.
