My parents xp install finally died the other day, after being filled with viruses, despite my attempts to stop them with a firewall and antivirus software , so i decided to install ubuntu to (hopefully) eliminate this problem. I have messed around with linux distro's in the past, but never used one seriously (usually duel boot) Unfortunately i cannot get the printer to work. The printer is an Epson stylus DX5000 and i have the latest version of ubuntu 64bit fully updated as of today. Any help will be much appreciated No problem anymore, sorted it, mayaswell delete this thread *Shouts for admins* I did mess around configuring CUPS, after searching through the ubuntu forums, but it was just a problem with the printer hardware in the end which i sorted, sorry if this never gets read but i don't want to bumb this up since its a bit old now, and ive just noticed some other people have posted on it
Hi, Would you mind explaining how you fixed your problem? might help the rest of us with printer & Ubuntu problems. James
Not a user of ubuntu but wouldn't it be as simple as getting the matching driver package using the equiv of aptget? Based on the assumption that that's what he was missing as he described nothing in the first post...
