I will take a short while as the forum does alterations such as this in a batch manner meaning it will do a load at a set time afaik :) shouldn't be long.

Don't you need to be registered for a month too?

Thing is, we've done that on purpose - mainly so that a potential scammer can't go about contacting you in other ways - i.e. getting your email/msn/whatever from your profile.

As someone said, there's a thread at the top of this forum describing exactly what changes we've made and why we've made them. As always, this is a trial and could be reverted back to the old system. This is now about the second or third solution we've tried to use to sort out the for sale forums :)

No that's fine - I personally think we're onto a winner with this one, and most people seem to agree it is a good idea too. Before we've done things like disallowing replies to threads so buyers have to contact sellers through other means rather than the forums. But that failed miserably. I can't even remember what we tried before that :blah:

Once you reach 75 posts it takes the forum software ~1 hour to edit your permissions. I've just checked and you're now recognised as having >75 posts and now have the relevant permissions :)

Isnt there a way to only allow people with over 75 posts to post in the forum. Is there anyway the buyer can rip the seller off? Which is why the protection is there anyway, and also to cover the bit-tech staff.

    :read:
If FS was just a place to find cheap stuff we could allow pro traders in. But it isn't, it's a place for members to trade with other members. There has to be some trust, and IMO it's safer to trust somebody who's been around a while rather than somebody with only a few posts. If they've only joined to sell (or spotted a bargain & joined to buy) should we be bothered if they leave when they find they can't?
