Ive been gettin a lot of random restarts when playin games like JK2 and C&C Renegade... I have also had problems with running 3DMark2001SE all the way through, seems to mess up every time. Im runnin Windows XP Pro, but this has happened when i was on 2000 Pro also... any ideas? is it a hardware problem???
I used to get the exact same prob ages ago when I first put my pc together. Was fixed when I updated the via 4-in-1 drivers and put the latest detonator drivers on.
k...well I just checked the spec for ur mobo (I'm assuming it was the epox 8k7a+ as listed in your sig) and it doesn't use the via chipset as my mobo does so it would be kinda silly to install the 4-in-1 drivers. instead make sure u have all the latest mobo drivers installed, I believe the correct ones for ur mb are here http://www.epox.com/html/english/support/motherboard/drivers/download_ep-8k7a+.htm make sure u get all the relevant files from this page, i.e. the latest drivers for each of the following - AMD761 chipset driver - VIA Apollo 686 chipset audio - VIA Apollo IDE busmaster - HPT-370(A) UltraDMA-100 RAID Controller/HPT-372 UltraDMA-100+33 RAID Controller also install the latest detonator driver from http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?PAGE=drivers might also be worth updating your bios from here http://www.epox.com/html/english/support/motherboard/bios/8k7a.htm
hrmmm...ok having consulted the FAQ found here you need to download... - the latest BIOS from here - then the latest VIA Apollo 686 chipset audio from here (I know it doesn't specify XP but try it anyways...if XP doesn't like it it wont install it) - the latest HighPoint HPT-370 driver from here - and finally the detonator driver from here Hope this helps :dude:
Right click on "My Computer" and select "Manage" Then select "Device Manager" in the window on the left Select the device u want to uninstall in the window on the right and right click on it...then click "Uninstall" Alternatively...u can double click the device to open the properties dialog for it...select the "Driver" tab at the top and u have a few extra options there such as rollback to previous driver (not entirely sure if this works tho as I haven't had a need to test it)
