    Hi, I'm new here.
Just found this site looking for help on a problem I'm having and you seem very knowledgable here, so maybe you can help me...

I have an Acer laptop Aspire 1612LMi. It's a P4 with an ATI Mobility Radeon 9700 video processor, the internal display is a normal 15" with a native resolution of 1400x1050 pixels, which the video processor obviously supports OK.

Now I'm trying to add an external LCD screen in an extended desktop environment, and I bought an Acer AL1916W. This is a "wide" screen with a native res of 1440x900.

The problem is that I can get the thing to work, but I don't have the needed 1440x900 resolution in the list of modes of the display controller. So I'm forced to use some other resolution, with the obvious picture distortion and lack of crispness.

What is the course of action in a case like this ??

(I'm also posting this question in the Laptops forum, just in case)

    Many TIA.

Email Acer and ask for some drivers. Doesnt look like ATI support the resolution in their settings and there's no easy way around that.
