Problems, thoughts, bugs, whatevers - re: new forum software

Im sure they could be added into the FAQ.

 

I like it, it's cool, but I really wish that the buttons for edit and delete post were more evident. Other than that, I REALLY like the new design, looks almost professional!

Edit: Errr.... actually, I found the buttons, lol, I'm being stupid, nm. Looks great though!

 

That made me laugh for some reason. I feel both the old and new designs looked quite professional, although the new ones a little cluttered, hopefully it just needs some getting used to. The pop up info on threads, and the author underneath the thread title are a little annoying, and make it look a bit messy though.

RTT, are you planning on locking the font and scale (CTRL+mouse wheel trick) like in the old version, or are you going to allow everyone to change the font.

 

just noticed something else. when I click on the link from the email notifier, it does not take me to the right page in that particular thread. for instance in this thread I am always directed to page two when it is actually three pages long now (with my replies per page number)

Yeha I get that too. Sometimes. I'm jsut using the forum default for posts per page, soem threads it does it, others it doesn't. Seems random.

I'm also startgn to get eMail notifications for threads that haven't changed, no new posts or edits...hmm. It's not rampant (only like one or two eMails) but still odd. That or double notifications. Ah well.

 

Really I do not like that the forum software marks older posts as read even if I never did; worse there is no way to disallow this feature.

 

suggestion - put the todays posts link back, i hate the new posts, as once uve read it and gone and come back theyve all gone, just a smple link... http://forums.bit-tech.net/search.php?do=getdaily

 

Please don't lock any font sizes - keep it all relative. much better.
(PS the CTRL+wheel thing is just the same as using View>Text-Size)

 

Search function doesn't work at all.

 

oh god, have just seen the first image in a signature - please please please disable that....

 

ERP?! Yes, please lock out pictures in signatures, they make forums look so messy, and slow.

Typhoon, I believe RTT mentioned that search has been disabled until he can sort everything out. I'm guessing they've got a problem with teh mod lounge, again, and with everythign new coming in, the search is the last thing they want to deal with. Or is the search lock still in place from the traffic increase of the holidays?

My I've had quite a flury of postage lately.. Must be the new semster kicking in....

 

Yea, it's a thing with new forum software... Just give em a few weeks, and if they're good... everything will be fine. Patience is a virtue.

 

How about to switch over to phpbb

 

I presume because at the moment out of vB, IPB and phpBB - it comes in third place overall.

Images in sigs - they are disabled and always will and have been. The people in question which you saw with 'images in sigs' where actually 'faking' the signature by including a line and an image at the bottom of each post they made...
