Problems with LG GDR-8161B DVD ROM

    I have been haveing problems with my LG DVD-ROM DRIVE. It is about 3 years and takes about 5 minutes to load a game. the model number is GDR-8161B, i have taken the ide cable out in put it in again, re-wired the rest but it still dosnt work, i am running ZP so no drivers are needed, anyone got any ideas?

    Have you tried updating the firmware to see if that makes any difference?

    hAVE LOOKED FOR FIRMWARE BUT CANT FIND AND, THE LG WEBSITE'S LINK IS BROKEN ALSO IT USETO WORK, IT SEEMS 2 HAVE JUST STOPED WWORKING

    Have the 8160B and its managed to break itself.. the power reg is nackered or summit, it just overheats after about 10 minutues use then crashes the pc... Bro had the same drive and that seems to have gone a similar way.... very strange tbh.... Have a feel at the rear of the drive, where the molex is, is it hot? If so its probably the same fault... There doesnt seem to be a solution...

    thanks, i will see if i can take it down 2 novatech and get them 2 give me a new 1, it is out of warenty but they replaced my cd-rwwhen that shatterd my disc!
