    Hi,
I am trying to connected a laptop to our company's VPN via the internet on a 56k modem. I make the connection to the internet (ISP) just fine with little sent or received traffic, but once I connect to the VPN the connection goes crazy. It all appears to be a problem with ntoskrnl.exe according to my firewall. However if I block it I cannot then connect to the VPN. Can anyone please tell me what's going on? and how to stop it from happening. The problem appears to be permanent as I have left it for half an hour, and it will have sent and received some 5mb. I have run ad-aware, I run Mcafee AV (the definitions are up to date) and sysgate personal firewall (free version).

    All comments gratefully received.

    Lee

does this errror start as soon as you connect to the vpn??

if would make sense for it be connected to the vpn client in which case you could see if there are any updates or support for that.

    Thanks for taking an interest.

Yes the problem occurs immediately on connection to the VPN.

are you using the vpn client built into windows or a 3rd party one??

if you are using the windows one you could try searching google for a free 3rd party vpn client to try out instead for comparison to try and rule out whether its the client that you are using or not.

also are you able to test the vpn connection on another pc to try and rule out your windows install?

I have tried it on another machine and again the same problem. Haven't tried a 3rd party piece of software yet. Will look at this option tomorrow. Can you recommend anything? Once again thanks for the assistance.
