    Downloaded, and Installed OK.

However, when I try and change resolution upto 1024 * 768, I get two mouse pointers - the in game one and the XP one. Clicking on the keep option kicks you back down to 800 * 600, and then the cursor freezes, and the only way to get out of the game is to reset the whole box.

    I'm running XP SP1, Latest non beta dets on a GF4 4400, XP2000 with 512Mb.

    What am I doing wrong?

What are the latest non beta dets?

There's something in the readme about the 40.xx not working properly. Don't know for sure.

I couldn't be bothered to downgrade from the 40.41 drivers, so I am running UT2k3 with them. I havn't seen any problems except flickering when not using FSAA

I had the flickering problem, then I installed the refresh lock fix and OC'ed the vid card to 4600 speeds and it went away. UT2K3 is running fine for me at 1024x768 w/ the 40.41 Det's. I am running Win2K with SP2 though, not XP.

just out of curiosity muse46... why on earth did you get a 9000pro? ain't it sposed to be slower and more expensive than an 8500le(plus that the drivers aren't complete yet)? and how on earth did you get the game to run smoothly at 1024 with 4x fsaa? it runs ok at 1200'1024 for me but i have an XP1800 and 8500... somehow i get the feeling that you don't have AA enabled... if you did, it'd run at about 10fps. wouldn't it just be more sensible to up the resolution? and just where the heck is the redeemer in the demo? i haven't found it and nor have any of the bots or my lan friends...

i didnt think there was a redeemer in the demo :eyebrow:

as for why i bought the card, well, i was desperate, and needed something VERY quickly, and it was there, so i bought it. im impressed with it!

having said that, my idea of playable and yours are probably totally different considering i have been struggling along with a gf2 MX up until recently. and i get more than 10fps, when i get my uni connection all ship shape i will up load some screenies 4 you

oh the drivers are fine too.

as for performance, just been playing a bit. max fps i saw was 25, lowest was 19, so its not too bad. safe to say i dont play like that often! its about the same fps i got with my gf2 mx which i had to play using some low settings. i will over clock this card too, see where i get

just a tip... try running q3 with maxfps at around 500 and drawfps 1(edit q3config in the baseq folder)... then you should enable 4X AA(openGL as q3 is opengl) and run Q3 at 1600*1200 res... you should get anywhere between 50 and 250 fps...(depending on which map you're running and what part of the map you're in) now the AA won't be enabled because 4X AA doesn't work over a certain resolution depending on the renderer and the performance/quality settings... on average it's safe to say you should get over 100fps... so then you just take a screenshot of that, and then switch the res to 1024*768... you'll notice that the fps will immediately drop to around 30... take a screenshot and then you should compare the quality results... you'll find that you don't really need AA at 1600*1200 res and that you get much better Fps at 1600*1200 than you get at 1024*768... therefore i conclude that AA should only be used for older games which only support low resolutions or if you happen to have a Radeon 9700 which will run your games at 1600*1200 with AA... the 9000 is an ok deal... i'm just pointing out that there are better options available. this test will work fine with any other Q3 engine based game too just that the baseq folder will be named different...
