I am currently designing a device that will radicaly change the world of encrypted networking. ZERO system over head, Low or no Network over head, ZERO system footprint, ZERO administration.

details and designs still being developed but i need programers and Hardware people. This is a secure device so i need honest trustworthy people. I am unable to pay for anyhelp but anybody who helps will be given a precent of whatever the device sells for.

sounds like your thing let me know.

DOH helps if you have an addy to respond to

i also need Programers, Network security, Encryption people

    Ideas people also welcome

If you are interested in the project please send me an email at DRAXIN with the word Portcullis somewhere in the subject line I would be happy to send you some general information on the project. Also i ask that you please have PGP installed and a 4096 Bit RSA key. If you could include your public key in the email it would alow me to just send you acopy of the information straight away.

Once again you can get a free copy of PGP at PGPI

    sure
what patfrm dd you download it for

    Windows
    Linux
    or other

    windows i can help with
linux i have had some problems with.

but let know which platfor you got it for and i will work through it and give you step by step.

if its the linux version try pgp --help
there should be a string for key management or key genoration
you would then type pgp <string> --help

mayb that will help for now but let me now and i work a step by step for you.

Im going to assume you have downloaded and installed version 8.0

if you have installed it you will notice a small padlock icon down in you system tray. right click that and click PGPkeys. If you dont have the padlock in your system try you may need to reboot your computer.

if you reboot and its still not there look for it under START>PROGRAMS>PGP>PGPkeys

once you have launched PGPkeys a window will pop up.
the first icon on the little row of icons below the menu bar is the Generate New Key Pair button. Click it.
the PGP key generation wizard will come up.
you have 3 options "NEXT" "EXPERT" or "CANCEL"
    you want to select "EXPERT"

Enter your full name where it asks for it.
    enter your email address.
where it says "Key Type: Diffie-Hellman/DSS" use the drop down box to change it to just RSA. DO NOT PICK RSA LEGACY
Where it says "KEY Size" delete what is in the box and type in "4096"
and make sure the radio buttion for "NEVER EXPIRE" is checked.

    now click "NEXT"

now you come to the passphrase screen.
notice it says "passphrase" and not password. this is because there is a metter in between the to text entry boxes. as you type a passphrase in the top box the metter will fill. the more of the metter you fill the better. so type in a passphrase into the top text entry box. Text is set to be hidden. if your someplace where noone will see what your typing go ahead and unhide it to make sure you havent made any mistakes.

MAKE SURE TO USE A PHRASE EASY FOR YOU TO REMEMBER IF YOU LOSE IT YOUR KEY IS USELESS

after you have entered the phrase in the top box and hopefully you have filled the passphrase quality box retype your passphrase EXACTLY in the lower box.

    then click next.

PGP now has all the informatio it needs to generate a KEY PAIR for you.
when it is finished maaking your keypair click "NEXT".
read the next screen. key servers are a fairly easy way to share keys. when you finished reading it click "FINISH"
It is called a key pair because you have a public and a private key. You send people you PUBLIC key. they use it to encrypt messages TO you. the only people who can read those messages are people with your PRIVATE KEY. that is why YOU NEVER SEND ANYBODY YOU PRIVATE KEY

once you have a key pair you will want to send people your public key.

in the PGP KEYS window you will now see your shiny new key. it will probbebly be expanded so 3 levels are showing. "RSA KEY PAIR", "USER ID", and "RSA EXPORTABLE SIGNITURE".
Highlight the first thing in the tree "RSA KEY PAIR" then go to menu option "KEYS">"EXPORT" or just hit CRTL+E

a save box will open save it somewhere easy to find. it will have the name of the key ".ASC" make sure the "INCLUDE 6.0 EXTENSIONS" box is checked. MAKE SURE THE "INCLUDE PRIVATE KEY(S)" BOX IS NOT CHECKED

now to send someone your PUBLIC key just send them a copy of that file in an email.

I will cover encrypting and decrypting later

MAKE SURE YOU REMEMBER THAT PASSPHRASE

to encrypt a meesage for use with email.

type your message into a plain old ".TXT" file. then right click the file and select "PGP>ENCRYPT & SIGN" you could just encrypt it but signing it gives it a little more security showing the person who recives the file whop origanly encrypted it. a new window will open. the top half of the box is the people whos public keys you have. the bottom box is the people you are going to encrypt the message TO. so drag the ONE person to the lowwer box. I say one because i dont remember if by putting two name the reciver has to use two keys and passphrases to decrypt it. so stick to doing one at a time for now.

next in the set of options given down at the lower left hand corner of the window choose select "TEXT OUTPUT" and you can but dont have to select "INPUT IS TEXT" and then click "OK"
if you have selected to sign the file it wioll ask you for your passphrase. ewnter your passphrase and hit OK. It will now save a new copy of the file to where the original is sdtored but the file will now have the extension ".TXT.ASC" (side note: depending on what options you pick at the time of encryption the file might contain the extension ".TXT.PGP")

now you have a couple options from here. You can either just send the person the file as an attachment (easy) or you can open the file with note pad, copy the encrypted contents of the file, and then paste them into an email. KEEP IN MIND if you do it by cut and paste you need to copy and paste THE WHOLE FILE all of it from start to end. (pain in butt)

If you do it the second way it means the person reciving the file has to copy and paste the contents of the email into a new file and then rename the file so it has the ".TXT.ASC" extension. but if you selected the right option and the file extension of the origanle encrypted file was ".TXT.PGP" and they enter ".TXT.ASC" then it more then likely wont work properly. So it is just easier to send the file as an attachment.

    RELIX hope this helps

Here is how i learned to use it relix. i madfe myself 4 different KEYPAIRS

then i created test files of no real importance and then i just played with the different combonation to see what did what. dont be afraid to play with files that dont hyave any worth. DO BE AFRAID OF PLAYING WITH IT WITH FILES YOU NEED.

So make one Key you plan to keep and 3 other keys for you to expairament with.

standered key length new adays is a DSS 1024 bit key but im paraniod so when sending things i want to keep private i use a 4096 bit RSA key.

    THANKS for your interest RELIX

damn, it looks like my PC isn't fast enough to create a key :eeek: it takes ages (15+ minutes) and after some time it gives an error saying "no random data available anymore" :eyebrow: :waah:
