OMG, it's the slutty version of the ORAC³
I managed to colour the parts pink this morning prior to going to work. So I'll update with pics tonight of how they've turned out after two coats and some wet/dry in between...
Pink PC Project Log 02 - 31st August 2005
On with the second stage of the project log...
^ I coated the parts in pink this morning at 6.45 or so...
^ Back indoors, I examined the parts closely, to check for any mistakes etc. with the painting
^ Close up of the drive fascia prior to a quick wet/dry to smooth the paint down...
^ Smoothing down the surface...
^ After the second coat of pink spray paint.
I'll leave the parts overnight as before, and see how they've turned out tomorrow. I reckon two coats on these parts should be enough - I don't want the paint intefering with the drive mechanism. Tomorrow morning I'll begin on lacquering them, and will post tomorrow evening with an update - hopefully showing the first stages of colouring the Keyboard and Mouse too!
LMAO! thats the stupidest thing ive seen in a long time! i like the dual SATA burners though.
Pink PC Project Log 03 - 31st August 2005
Another update for the log...
^ The dismantled Microsoft Wireless keyboard - the membrane is at the top of the picture...
^ A close up - note the black wire, it circles the whole of the keyboard, most likely used as the wireless antenna?
^ Close up of the two sections of the keyboard - the top, darker section will be left as is, with the bottom being pink.
^ Carefully removing the keys using a small screwdriver.
^ A plate full of keys, good job I have another keyboard along with various photos for reference!
^ The shell of the keyboard wet/dry sanded, prior to priming.
^ Another shot, showing the whole of the shell to be painted pink.
^ Primed, ready for the first coat of pink tomorrow a.m.
Note: The keyboard wont be completely pink - all of the keys will remain black, and the back/bottom of the keyboard, along with the shiny top strip will remain black too. How this will look I don't know exactly, but should give a dramatic look to the whole thing.
Pics back to normal
Pics are fine for me. A good start so far. I like the way you are going with this. Nice work in particular on that drive. While pink isn't exactly my colour it's a nice shade you've chosen for the (soon to be) mrs.
This is looking very interesting. Personally I don't like pink. But w/e floats your boat! Nice paint job on the drive, good luck with the keyboard.
I don't particularly like pink either, but the shade is OK...
Sprayed the keyboard pink this morning, and it looks very good. Will post pics tonight of it, and the lacquered drive fascia/tray - will work on the mouse too.
I like this, neat paint job too! You gonna cover the computer in fluffy pink to make it more girly?
fluffy pink is a bit OTT maybe? The case will be the same shade as the peripherals are turning out, though I'm still throwing a few other ideas around for it. Once I've ordered the thing this weekend I should have a better idea.
Would be good if you could perhaps mix some pink and white areas on the case itself? Like an old cadillac or something (might want to leave the chrome out though )
Or (as has already been mentioned) something like a hello kitty theme...
Pink/white would go well together, and the shade is similar to a cadillac or Lady Penelope's car... the peripherals will be a constrasting black/pink, which should look OK, but may try white on the case - white LEDs are easier to come by, though I may chuck some pink ones on the mouse and kb.
i got a question mate... where did u get the paints from?? and what grit sand paper u using to sand down the plastic parts??
also loving the project allready...keep up the good work
I asked the same question myself, did a bit of research and according to the Plasti-Kote website, you can buy them at B&Q. On the net you can buy them for a fiver - see froogle!
sweet....thanks willy.....got my own lanboy project comming up....dont think ive seen a lanboy project on the forums before...so im being extra carefull what types of paint im gonna use.
Thanks Mr Wonka, I picked mine up at B&Q - think about £5.50 each, but I could be wrong. As for the wet/dry sand paper, it's made by 3M, not sure of the grit, but will check later when I get home.
atanum141 - thanks for mentioning the sandpaper! I checked to find that I had purchased 3 grades of 3M wet/dry sandpaper - coarse, medium and fine. Came in a pack of 4 sheets (2 medium, 1 coarse, 1 fine) and I had been using the coarse one...
...so I've switched to fine, and it is giving a much smoother finish. I'll post another log in a minute once I've resized/edited in photoshop.
thanks for that man...as i need paint and sand paper for my project long and its driving me mad what types i should use.
looking forward to the next log!
