Nice job, very professional looking, and good attention to detail! Painting stuff like the bottom of the top panel is the sign of a man with patience!
Though I forgot about the underside of the base! It does get hot, but it'll be air-cooled for now. Though I do want to try out watercooling and would have done on this if I had a larger case/budget. It's going in the roof as it is too big and noisy to sit anywhere in the house. But I'll put a lot of planning into it before I put it up there. The HDD is quiet and doesn't vibrate much as it is - in fact I think the pads that are holding it to the acrylic shelf have removed most of the vibration. I noticed the DVD-RW doesn't match the shade of black that the case is - I'll look at getting more paint to change it and the PCI brackets, along with the flooring and firewire/usb brackets too. I may use the rubber rings in my next project though - as it will have 8 HDDs inside.
Well done!!! Excellent work, also good selection of components!! I'm eager to start mine now but Enjoy it!!! OldY
Red Nineteen Project Log 34 - 19th July 2006 The Schuderia(sp?) Shield arrived today... ^ The two pins from the back of the badge removed. ^ The back of the badge flush. ^ Epoxied to the front fascia, between the two vandal-proof switches. ^ The two badges, one on the Acer F-19, one on Red Nineteen. That is all.

I had a thought just now. I remeber you saying that you didnt want to hide all the cables b/c they resemble a car engine right? Well, instead of zip ties, perhaps some of these are in order: I did a search for "spark plug wire divider" and got these. They would fit in with the auto theme, and imo look better than zip ties. They might make an easy addition to this great mod I would recommend checking a local auto parts store instead of getting them online.
Yup - and I'm liking your idea. I'll look into alternative cable solutions based on the automotive stuff soon. True. I originally had a pair of 120mm silver fan guards to go on the front, but decided to leave them off as they'd spoil the 'look'. It's too late to add on the mesh, unless I remove the fans and re-attach them, but they're glued on now.
The only downside is that 80s looking remote, very chessy, but the mod is superb and beautiful, all you need to do now is sit back and run £D mark and see how it preforms... lucky lucky you...
This: ? It's tiny and kinda cool, but I see what you mean. It came with the Acer F-19, so I left it in shot. I'll be benchmarking it properly and overclocking it in a fortnight or so (off on holidays now). But from the initial testing, it hits 2.4GHz with no effort and the 3D Mark scores look good - though the SuperPi score was shite.
nice mod im ferrari fan (its scuderia ferrari) you know what would be great for this color theme the dvd drive in red just to make a little contrast..
True, though I wanted to keep the outside of the case simple and stealthy with the black. Thanks to all who have commented and viewed this project log - not only was it featured recently on bit-tech, but my bandwidth exceeded 25gb/month for July, so my hoster upgraded me to 50gb/month for free. As I keep saying, I'll be overclocking and benchmarking this very soon. Now to begin on my next project.
really nice mod... I love the colors and the light, It just blend together so well The only thing I didn´t understand was why you used acrylic for the front :s But still Wicked nice modd
