wicked work there, my fave is the "From the desk of ryan" photo, with curled edges.
that is fantastic....well done. well done
I loved the game... and your work is superb! subscribed...
I smell a guide...
Glad to see you've decided to bring this project over to bit-tech.
It's where the cool kids are at
Damn, that's the best airbrushing work I've ever seen (so far ).
I'm definitely going to be following this thread closely.
Hey, yea I'm based in the north east of England, Sunderland to be exact
The project is comign along nicely. Its my 20th on tuesday, the gf has made plans for the weekend, so i guess no painting til wednesday?
I wish i had more time to do this stuff
I would love to come round and watch your doing the airbrushing, it's a skill I'd love to have. Any possibility of rigging up a video camera during a session?
you have a lot of talent that looks great!
Oof, sounds kinky...
I dont really have any means of takign videos... my camera ( pentax slr) doesn't have a video option... I think i have a compact point and shoot style which i could use though, ill see what i can do
Sorry if this has been asked already but what airbrush/paints do you use?
I use Iwata brushes, ( mainly hi-line) and automotive base coats / urethanes. MIPA brand in particular, but also house of kolor and PPG specialty pearls etc. finished with a 2pack clear coat and polished to perfection.
The cases are painted just like a show car / hotrod would be painted. or a normal car would be resprayed / repaired. This means the finish is as hard as Chuck Norris and as shiny as Anthony McPartlins heed!
Okay, last update until Wednesday ish, as I'm going on a short break - My 20th on tuesday !
The front if the case looked a little something like this:
Now it was quite a challenge to paint the front off this case, as its a weird shape and very 'bitty' so i have concentrated on 2 things; the hard drive cage and the power button area.
I needed inspiration, which i found - again right at the start, I knew i wanted to include the lighthouse in some way, so a started the game, swam around but just couldn't get the right angle to take a screenie, so i got back in the lift and looked for more inspiration. Then i found the rapture logo...
I made a mask, and stuck it to the cage front ( the front was already filled and prepped )
I also cut the words ' all good things of this earth flow into the city ' I thought it would be cool to link the start of the whole game - the light house and connect it to these words which you see as you enter rapture.
The lettering is painted in a prismatic paint, very light, so you cant actually see it unless the light hits it right.
Im looking at it now and i cannot see any text until i tilt and move it around - fab stuff - just a tad costly !
almost out of sight.
Going back to the into of the game ( again ) remember the slide show? when Ryan speaks, and introduces his idea... Well I thought they were very powerful words and thought it would be cool to have them on the case somewhere.
The idea was to use a similar prismatic paint as before but have it almost as if it wasn't there - VERY subtle. it will pop out only at the exact angle and even then it will be subtle.
( a little water to show how the clear coat will make it act)
Next, I fancied a challenge, so on with the bioshock logo!
Mask is made,
Mask is applied. I havnt painted it in yet though.
That all for now... We are SO almost nearly done !!!
*jaw drops again* You sir are simply amazing, the biggest thing I've ever airbrushed is a large resin Forge World model. You got any tips?
this is excellent work man, very tastefully done. love the "watery" side panel / insides
good to see that you posted here as well as xs. case looks as good as ever. cant wait for the update.
The most amazing airbrushing i have ever seen.
fantastic work there! i particularly love the water droplets and the 'picture' on top of the case, it looks so real! wish i had such talents. truly amazing work!
