Are you going to paint that mouse blue to match the lighting?
you should polish up the bezels!
duste: now that you mention it ill think about it
burnout21: cant do . i mentioned in the previous updates that the aluminium alloy i used to make the side panel isnt suitable for polishing. it looks great when brushed though. this case isnt meant to bling, i want a clean and smooth look
well since there was no real progress in the project lately i decided to run some experiments since the paint i ordered for the case has finally arrived
other than that i experimented a bit with brushed aluminium and decided to do a little something with the PSU mounting plate i made a while ago. after brushing it with 180 grit sandpaper i shot some layers of clearcoat on it. after the clearcoat dried i smoothed it with 2000 grid paper and some water and polished it. the pictures really dont do it any justice
the paint has arrived at last
i did some experiments on an old speaker mesh grill i had lying around. it was originally white. i sanded the paint a bit with 360 grid paper
and in the progress
closeup on the paint. i really love that color, it looks much better in real life than it looked in the catalogue
after some layers of clearcoat
and the finished product
next week ill prepare the entire case for the paint and hopefully paint it aswell. also my plexi order should arrive next week so you can expect lots of action
nice paint job real professional waiting for updates
הי גם אני ישראלי
Me want airbrush...
i got my order from frozencpu today
AC Ryan short UV blue IDE cable
short UV blue SATA cables
bulgin illuminated switches.
other than that i primed the side panels and the top/bottom of the case and enlarged the holes for the power/reset buttons to accept the bulgin switches. pictures of the progress will be posted tomorrow
edit: just soldered the wires to one of the switches
1st soldering with heatshrinks
checking if it works... its alive
after the final sleeving
Very impressive work, keep it up!
Looking better and better everytime i check in ssR, keep em coming
im here with another update. as promised pictures from yesturday of primer painted panels, together with today's progress
panels painted in primer paint
rear fan hole covered with c-strip
bulgin switches placed on the panel
and an overall look of the panel before it went to the primer paint
and the front panel painted with white primer
another pic of the front panel
thats it for today i hope to finish the paint job by the end of this week
Very nice SSR, I like the way you've sleeved the switches, I might steal that idea for my own project and your front panel looks good after primer.
Looking good, very clean looking front panel... except the blow hole seems out of place becaue its got such a sharp angle to the panel, i think it would look better if it blended with the panel more. Couldn't really see it till you primed it.
The colour you're gonna use looks real sweet! can't wait to see it on.
something to show the potential of this project. sure to look amazing clad in that brilliant shade of blue you chose looking forward to updates, dont keep us waiting too long..
thanks for the feedback guys
FooSai: the angle isnt that big, ill take some closeup shots to show you how it looks exactly. also with the paint on i believe it will look much better.
i should get some more progress done today, so stay tuned
Your font case looks great .
wow i really like the case! it looks great
i am very jealous of your airbrush though
and congrats on your swithes they are ace gud luck!
thanks for the replies guys
here is today's progress
i painted the case legs with primer paint. i also dremeled a piece of 1 of the supports out to make room for the CCFL which will be sitting there. and i also sleeved some more cables
the legs are disassembled and painted in primer paint
a piece of the support beam dremeled out
and from the inside
the CCFL is placed inside the beam
and a shot from the inside
and now for some cable sleeving
reset button. the led will be connected to HDD activity
one of the usb cables is sleeved
woo im going to have to borrow your idea for the ccfl
isnt that ccfl placement not gonna let much light out... or maybe just directionalize it... but the way its hiden is awsome, if it works im gonna borrow the idea too!
good job, keep it up
