I've made a decision. This will just be a case mod. I actually have no use for another system and wouldn't have anywhere to put it when finished. So the CPU, Mobo, RAM and Heatsink are all on ebay in one auction. The 500GB Hard drive I'm going to keep and add to R2-M5 (giving him a total of 750GB!)

    The modding continues.

So I decided to use the shape of the ten commandments as the window, since they are what is in the Ark. I found a pic online

Then cut out the shape and drew it on the panel.

    Looks interesting

    Hard to cut the curves

I want to coat this side with the mesh too, but should I cut out the commandments here too or leave it covered?

I was drilling the holes for the rivets and bent my new bit!! :(

    Painted it gold too.

Started on the other front bezel beam.

Here's the gold layer on the pillar

I cut off the top piece of mesh so that the board will lay flatter and it left a cool effect.

So much more to do and this is where I'm heading...

    So more work to show.

This is what I'm shooting for.

Here's how I'll do it. I used good ol' expanding foam to fill in the pillar

    I have this thin rod

I had to cut it to size

Then I dropped in the rod

And drilled a hole in the plywood base

I checked to make sure that the rod will fit.

And shaved off the excess foam

Then all I had to do was set the pillar on top and push the rod through the top and bottom.

    Three to go. :)

I'll get more done soon. My wife has had the week off and doesn't want me modding while she's home, because I'm not spending time with the family.

I like the mod, i like the gold, i like the pillars.

Jury's still out on the metal screening on the window side. Seems to negate the already small window, imo.

So it's been months now and I'm finally ready to finish this mod. There will be some changes made to the base and topper because wood looks like crap when painted gold so I'll do something different there.

My Angels arrived and I've painted them!

The pillars were done with tow different kinds of gold paint, but now that I bought more I can match them all.

you may be better off building a propper Old Testiment Ark like Noah with all this excessive weather of late.

So I finished the 1st part of the top, there's more coming.

I have some old trim lying around that I'll be adding under the topper to transition the 90 degree angle.

I'll also be adding more to the top along the edges making it look far more elegant.

    The trim has been painted.

    Here's where it'll go

    I bought more trim too

    And these cool knobs

This is how I do my wood cuts. Plain old Miter setup

The two pieces go under the case like this:

And here's what to expect when I add the columns

Looking good so far, but needs more Ark, and less the looks of a gold painted case :)
