    Thanks:)
When you go in with a bright red jacket and a slightly dodgy scooter I'm not sure what they're expecting, I think that might have helped slightly:p

a quick tip for cutting with a dremel: dont push, let the dremel to the work.

This is what i do and ive been able to cut windows from steel using only three to four normal dremel disks.
Go over where i want to cut with the dremel lightly, so you can easily see where you have cut. Then i keep going over it until the metal becomes very thin. Then i apply a little pressure to finish the cut. Also, hold your dremel using two hands. Big hands really have nothing to do with how you cut.

Make sure the dremel is on top on the cut.

I know everything i just said is very hard to understand, but i could not think of a better way to say it.

    http://www.mnpctech.com/Dremel2.html
This guide is pretty much what i said, but with pics lol. Make sure you read the "How to cut a circle" page.

well thankles:) I'll need the how to cut a circle bit soon when I'm doing my fan holes (I have no holesaw):(

with any luck I should get my PSU very soon and my Graphics card (ready for the surprise yet?) in a couple weeks, the window should be finished tonight and the surprise still needs testing properly:p

Dudes and dudettes I am back... This update is in 2 (small) sections)

    AT-AT
First of all, I've got the plexi cut:)

It's a bit marked, but (old Yorkshire saying) It be reet:), the edges are far from straight, but considering I have nothing to hold it onto my workbench with it came out pretty well... I'll sort that out when I have some spare time.

I'd hve loved to do a lot more this update, but unfortunately
    [IMG]

That was my last dremel cutting disc... as you can see it's a little worse for wear, and that's what I used to cut the plexi (it managed it, just)

I did try to grind the holes in the case lid to make them bigger, but the grinding stone shot off:(
    [IMG]

Luckily for me I have a new Engraver bit for my Dremel:) (Having an opportunistic mind Cheesecake!)

Also, a small disappiontment... Remember that surprise I promised you all? It didn't quite work out:(
    [IMG]

I was hoping to incorporate this into the mod somehow... but then reality hit me...

    a) it's glass, I'm sure a slightly dodgy dremel blade won't quite cut the mustard... or glass:(
    b) I realised that it needs constant heat to work... so that may be a slight problem considering it was going to go next to my graphics card
    c) The heating element in the bulb requires 240v:(
    [IMG]

Luckily there IS a plan B:) which is yet another surprise waiting to go wrong:p

It's nothing to do with the following, I just poured myself a pint of Guinness in advance of cutting the window
    [IMG]

I didn't get around to it, but I had the drink anyway, in the same timespace typing this has taken (so apologies for bad grammar and mis-spelling, I'll probably correct it tomorrow)
    ---
    NEXT MOD:
On a different subject... I've got my next case mod/build bought:)

How does £2 out of the Salvation Army charity shop sound?

But for that I got two:)

Yes, that is Deefor in the bg helping me with both projects (as usual
    [IMG]

And that's the end of the update:eeek:

The prob with the old AT cases is taht they are VERY thick, and my sisth sense tells me that you will really need some hard work on filling those things.

Good luck with that! But persistence makes all the difference! :D

    cheers mate!

Well thankles:) it help being built like a brick outhouse

That might explain why I used so many dremel discs to cut the sides out:p

Luckily for me Abbey Signs have a C+C machine, so I can get my backplate done nice and easily, but the rest will be my own work... including the holes for the fans and the surprise (Which shouldn't be too hard if I plan properly)

Hopefully I'll have an update this Thursday coming... so watch this space (well... the space below the last post of the topic... Sod it, you know what I mean )

    Peace out:

    Hi again everyone:)

Right, I have a slight problem in the way that the Antec UK store are being a pain in the proverbial by not being open, so I can't get the cables for my PSU
College are being a pain in the proverbial because I need to buy a laptop (or work on *shudders* Apple Macs), AND I need to pay for materials, AND I need to get some form of transport there and back (eg. bike or kickbike) AND work doesn't need me after the 20th so my money really does need saving

This means no HDD and no GFX for a decent amount of time, and as a result, AT-AT is on hold until further notice... I'll update every so often if anything changes but that doesn't look likely in the forseeable future (Especially as Abbey Signs is out of bounds for me for the next couple of weeks, and I still need to get the metal cut)

I'll be back with an update by (at the latest) October half term... so see you later (I hope)

I was going to embed it in the side and make it run when the PC was turned off (for a nice light show)

I'm still unable to get hold of the remainder of the parts (including the PSU cables)... I've had to save a hell of a lot of money for another project that I'm doing (for a college exhibition) so unfortunately AT-AT is still on hold for the forseeable future... possibly indefinitely depending on how badly this other project goes (again, always been a pessimist).

I might stick to designing and no more practical modding, looking at the state of the case so far I might just cease work and call it a bad job (I will get pics up of current progress in the near future... when my camera decides to work with my laptop)

Thanks for the support all, but looking at things I might hang up my dremel (knock off) for good
    Cheers

Suppose so... I've got a not-so demanding project in the workings so after that I might cheat and get the rest done by college after it's finished (and just take credit for the design)
