Love it, YAY!
Good to see you again, Burnout21
Good to see you back at it! Also gotta quote myself from a couple of years back
And welcome to Finland! Coming through Hong Kong or..? Crazy flight, don't want to do that again any time soon.
Moriens Jipa, kiitos hyvin paljon
Yes, I'm doing the hectic Hong-Kong route - but better than Bangkok/Copenhagen.....
First visit to Finland in 2 years, but been so busy this side of town, filling 2 roles currently.
But hey, at least some progress to this mod - it's been way to long, and a lot of diversions along the way, but finally, we can proceed along the right track again.
Will update this after Hyvinkaa/Tampere/Helsinki visit
It's great to see you back in the game my friend. I can't wait to see some pics of that awesome hardware .
Good to see you again
Glad to see this one alive again
Thanks for the input, Guys
@ Evenge: It was in hibernation, but thawing out now, so I will make good progress next few weeks - just get this business-trip out of the way
Will update soon!
Can't wait to see the progress on this thing.
I like these mods there should be more of them.
New to the forum here, and wanted to say this mod is awesome. Ive been thinking about performing a G5 Case mod for a while, and finally took the step of aquiring myself a dead g5. I put a Wanted ad on craigslist and someone called me almost immediately. $50 bucks got me:
A Dual G5 2.0Ghz Tower with all the guts. (Manu. Date 2005)
Inside was: 160GB SATA Drive, DVDRW Drive, Bluetooth Module, Airport Extreme Card, 128MB Radeon card ect. Even came with the aluminum Apple Pro Keyboard and "Mighty" mouse. Although I did ask about it, they wouldnt part with the massive apple LCD monitor sitting on the desk with it all...
Took forever gutting the thing out. Tons of fans. Now all remains is a nice shiny clean case and a pile of old parts soon to be in the recycle bin. Cant wait to mod!
According to the piece of paper still taped to it from the Apple store "Genius", the estimated cost to fix the failed logic board would have been about $700. Everything else (including the Power Supply) still checks out, a 630W unit.
My question is: Has anyone ever attempted to re-wire one of these PSUs for ATX Use? Searching on Google yielded results for the opposite, seems these are prone to failure like the logic board in this one.
Anyone ever tried to re-wire the OEM 630w PSU from a G5 Tower for ATX?
Sorry didnt realise it posted my previous message, since it didnt show up right away, thought i lost it...
What power socket does the HP drive cage use? It doesn't look standard.
Any new updates on this over the past year? I hope this isn't a dead project. I've just begun my G5 case mod
In 3 weeks, we're finally moving into our own house in Australia - this mod has been packed away, but I have decided it will sit in my new home's study, where it will go well with the 30" ACD.
This will become my Wife's system, and I will fit the X58 eVA micro micro SLI board to it, and transplant all her other components from the 4-way SLI setup.
Will get this going during Dec/Jan holidays, so please check back then.
Since I am not able to PM you, I'll just ask you here in regards of you hopefully seeing this, but how did you get such perfect curved edges on the back plate?
