wow i read this thread when it was just the first two pages and didnt really understand what were you were trying to do and i kept away from it but just from reading this last page it has convinced me to keep watching this mod freaking sweet loving the one piece pannel for the fan controllers rather than all the smaller panels great job so far mate want to see what you got next!
I don't blame you, I don't know; what I'm doing either. I just build this thing as I feel like it , making a lot of changes on the fly. Here is a pic of my present case " paint job ", clear plexi painted on the inside only; can't get any glosser than that. That was just with a $1 can of flat black paint; but man look at the gloss. That is the way this case is gonna be painted, black in the inside, so think about this: how can you paint inside a case with a lot of small compartments, but not to get paint ( leave some see thru plexi ) in some areas. Everytime I'm gonna glue or think about gluing something, I have to stop because If I do it; how I'm gonna painted later . Just part of the fun building this case, my friends... By the way, thanks for giving a chance to this thread. Well I don't have a life, so let me go back to some more sanding of that big panel.
Since the controlers are part of the front panel and I don't like the LEDs holder they came with; I'm including this mod. Notice the black " cheapo" LEDs holders..fugly And the chrome replacements To take it apart, unscrewed everything Comparing shot of the LEDs holders Enlarging the hole, with a drill bit Metal holders in place Rear shot of the metal holders Controler internals, notice how the LEDs leads are exposed Adding some insulation, to prevent short with the metal holders. Finish mod, now I like them better. Today I finish 95% of the middle panel, tweaking. So I put it all together and took pictures with the paper mask off. The first is with flash on then with the flash off And finally in place. Its not perfect but it looks good, I remasked the panel and put it away to continue another day; I'm not finish with yet. See you at the next post..." If you don't like it, mod it "...CrazyModder....
Next is the front panel bottom piece turn: I wasn't happy with the shape that I had made before, it wasn't the look I want it, so I Now the look is getting closer to what I wanted , to begin with The water flow indicator, mounts easy with the included hardware. The fan and the mounting hardware I'm gonna use, simply I cut some; treaded rod and added some nuts. Im holding the green plexi, the front panel and the fan, by passing the bolts thru them. The fan is hold in place by four nuts, very simple. All in place, need something......paint Took everything apart to paint the back of the front plate, gloss black fusion ; paint for plastics. Now with all the masking off , I kinda like it. I need to change the color of the flow indicator to silver or black, and probably the color of the round housing of the fan; from silver to black, but leaving the impeler silver. Finnaly I might had to detail the plexi pieces, a little more. See you at the next post...
Noooooooooooooo! They look so... technical! It looks like you could do more with them than the actual PC! I spent a good hour with just my 4 controllers and 4 switches - you'll be there for weeks! The mod is looking great too.
rather than gluing the knobs, might i suggest a tiny dot of nail polish to mark the "ideal" settings for them. then if meddling fingers tiddle your knobs when your not around then you can fairly easily reset them to your visual marks.
Hello again, just in case somebody will find and use for this " mesh " is for gutters, I got it for $2.50 is 6" wide and 20 ft. long is made out of soft rubber like material and it has a nice black color to it. It Amazingthat, it has no name or brand, just a picture of the product in the box. I might had an use for it in some places, maybe for a fan or other stuff. Well here is the top plate, it has a water level indicator at the top and in the bottom a 120mm fan. After some more modding to the front green plexi trim, I did a dry fit. I won't bore you with pics of drilling holes and sanding; is the same technique as my previous mods, hand tools and lots of time. Then after painting and unmasking everything the final product. This time, I used some color washers; I painted some green and some black, I think they make the screws stand out better and help the color scheme. Four screws hold the water level indicator and is the same for the fan, very simple. It's not done yet, I might have to do some more tweaking on it later. Well thank you all, for your comments .... see you guys at the next post.
Short update, let me start with this I didn't like the silver housing on the fan, so I painted it black on the inside. A picture with flash And with ou flash, the amount of light output is less than with the silver paint, but looks better with the gloss black. Next two pictures shows the fan in place, but with out the screws installed. I think the fan looks much better now. Now todays stuff, the plate to install a fill port for the WC. The small hole saw, I'm gonna use All the holes and design already done Now marking the bottom plate, that will hold the fill port. After cutting out the bottom plate, I did some flame polishing on the sides After masking the bolders of the plate I painted the back plate on the back side black. Attached the front plate and the fill port, those screws aren't gonna be visible; they will screw into the case and fasten the fill port plate, to it. Final assembly, the top of the fill port is recesed into the green plexi and the clear plexi at the bottom hold the fill port to the case. Again using some black washers under the screws to give it some depth. Well short and simple, for what I seen so far I'm gonna be using more black and less silver for the case. See you guys at the next post....................
Gobsmacked Wow man, that case is looking sweet. You have some real skills there buddy, those fans are the coolest thing ive seen all day! Keep up the incredible work, cant wait to see this further on!
i think it looks really bad with the screws stickign out the back also you will probably cut yourself on them or somthing ..
No, let me try to explain; the screws are sticking out 5/16" and they will be screwed ( attaching the fill port plate to the case ) into the top panel of the case that is 3/4" thick; so nothing will be seeing or sticking out inside the case, only the fitting of the fill port, will stick out. Thanks for your comments guys.....
Small update I had to do some more work to the rads bracket, added some green plexi and painted the whole thing. I don't want to bore you guys with masking and painting pictures, so I just show you what I came with. I'm been down lately " mental juices are not flowing " also I keep second guessing what I want to do next " confused and totally disorganized " can't make any progress without shutting down some of the voices in my head ( might have to increase the meds, dose ). I fell like I got a bunch of guys with differents opinions, arguing inside me. I can't continue until the shut the f$#@ off and get back to work. Next time I will post some real progress or nothing at all
