i know xD it turned out better than i thought ok im having a problem here, i cant figure out how to mount a motherboard cover :\, i bought a bag of 50 standoffs to mount the cover but it turns out coolermaster cases us fine thread standoffs and not coarse thread, so i have a bag of 50 useless standoffs >< does anyone know an easy way to mount the Mobo cover? the simpler the better
I FINALY HAVE AN UPDATE: supplies came in the mail: FIne grit sandpaper, coarse-fine-finish polishing compounds, files, soldering iron, 1/4" masking tape, and car body mask (cool stuff, i saw them use it on "pimp my ride" once, ill go into deatail with it once the paintjob nears copletion) not in picture: Zalman NB heatsink and Arctic silver thermal epoxy i cut off a row of fins so that the HS dosnt interfere with video card mounting next i lapped it ok on with the paint job: first i primed everything: (not pictured: top pannel and radiator) then i taped stripes off with the fine masking tape, unfortuanltely if orgot to take a picture >< theres the stripes painted looks really nice (the grill area looks funky cause the masking tape underneath has funky paint on it) closeup oh yea i forgot to mentiont he rad grill i cut out from modders mesh, i painted stripes of that too ok right when i was about to take more pictures, my camera bateries died >< so i decided to take a teaser picutre with my cameraphone istead, here is a sneak peak at tomarrows work
like the hot rod stripes on top, nice mod to an alredy nice case...... got one myself(although its stock)
nice man noticed the xxxmain graphics there good choice i use them for my rc car bodies and good log as well looking forward to final result
Pictures Could you ust use the phone for all your pictures? the ones taken by your camera are sometimes really bad. I think it comes from moving your camera while it is taking the photo, but I could be wrong. great modding, the stripes look great and nice work on the side panel.
haha thanks for all the comments, sorry for the blury camera pics but the "close up" function requires me to keep the camera completly still for 3 seconds, but im not too good at that -_- ill try to take better pics via the "auto" mode from now on
ok big update today, so lets cut to the chase: yesterday, i let the paint sit and dry, meanwhile i made a motherboard cover after some creative ideas with securing the cover, here are the pics: the finaly outcome, the camera wasnt charged so i dont have and inprogress shots heres another view heres a pic for the cutout area for cmos reset sorry for bluriness, it was a low ight conditiona nd my camera didnt focus properly hoole for the ram to "breathe" hole to rout ot the IDE cable hole for the SATA, and front pannel connectors here is a cloer pic of the areas cleared for the AGP and PCI cards area for the 4 pin mother board power cable heres a good pic of how the cables come out of the side overview so this is basically how i mounteds the mobo cover, i drilled a hole in 2 PCI blackplates and secured the mesh to it via a 6/32" screw for the upper portion, i put screws where the fan screws used to go hgeres how it looks on the inside in the pics, the screw are shone with the threaded portion stickingo out, in the finaly placement, the head is facing out blury pic of the sound dampening material i installed ont he case floor ----------- ok now on with todays work, today i finished the top pannel, radiator and grill, i ran out of metalic black before i could get to the side pannels, but i will do that as soon as i go buy more paint here are the pics: nice picture of the everyting mounted, and how smooth the stripes line up since the other pannel was so plain, i decided to put letters on it, it says "wavemaster" just incase you cant tell xD both pannels together you can see the black stripes painted on the white mounts in this picture far away picture, howd that picture of my little brother get in there o_o cose up of the metalic black , iluminated by sun filtered through a palm tree, one of my personal favorite shots me playing with the close up function on my camera again and heres a decent shot of the left pannel well thats it for today, all thats left to do is wait for my furniture casters to arrive, and to paint the remaing pannels, also i need to wire up the LEDS and install the front, but im feeling lazy and the project will probably not be COMPLETE till next week, g'night for now, im sleepy and sore from working all day -_-
shite today my res sprung a leak and it seeped into my 100g Westerndigital drive which had all my music and videos on it T_T, also, my cd drive died for some unknown reason, so im left with a single drive.. my raptor, im scared as hell that this one is gonna die too... once i get a chance, imma go buy an EXTERNAL cd and hard drive so i want have to worry about mysterious deaths
Now that sucks, I feal sorry for you m8...but dont let that stop you from modding...I'd like to see some mor of your work
haha thanks, id like to get more done, but my dad went to the hardware store today and told me they no longer had the metalic back paint i was using in stock so painting will ahve to wait a few more weeks, ill try to revise the mobo cover, put somre hinges on it to make it more ascessable, i also need to fix the res, more updates soon to come. P.S. ive been eyeing one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822136027 does anyone know if they are worth the price?
@THEkorean depends what you're going to be using the drive for. If you use it to backup everything on your other drives should they ever crash and then a hd fails on you'll be grinning as you just restore your computer from your external drive.
Looking good. Nice mobo cover. 1 thing though.... "hole to easily upgrade RAM later" I could have understood, but "hole to let RAM breathe"?? The cover's mesh - it nothing BUT holes.
@ constructacon the original plan was to put the old fan from my video card over the ram, so i made a hole in advance, but i got lazy and decided not to put the fan there so i cut a rectangle @rocket733 i think i will buy one of those, the HD that died had a backup of my raptor on it so if my raptor crashes im pretty screwed >< i semi-installed the front today heres the overall view heres another view, carbon fiber vinyl is very shiney heres whats under the front door, the muskateer 3 i won from Coolermaster, and the Muskateer 2 my friend gave me cause he liked my mod so much . both are functional imma piant the muskatter 2 black when i have time grill stripes in case i didnt already post a picture of it already ok i fixed the leak by replacing the cheap plastic elbow witha straight brass barb, but now the tube kinks like crazy when i mount it. I think im going to just scrap the res cause it leaks and its to much trouble, and replace it with an already made acrylic tube res. for now its mounted with masking tape on the side of the case well thats it for today, ill update once harbor freight sends me my furniture casters, its taking forever -_-
ok heres the real post, i finaly got a break from all this homework and had time to solder some LED's for my project, and also do some other mods heres the log: First i soldered 5 LED's , one for the CPU block, one for the acrylic backplate on my NV68, one for the tubing coming from the VGA block, one for the pump, and the last one for my couplex 25 external reserovoir (i ordred it from primochill.com and they sent me the wrong res... i called them like 5x and emailed them twice as much and they havnt responded to a single one grrr anyone know how to reach these people @ primochill?) i also soldered new LED's into my Muskateer 3 LED behind "vacume tube" LED soldered under the VU meter also did a little painting, i finaly got the paintjob i was going for: muskateer 2 painter black front, (the blue light is from the reflection of the sky) getting beter at those cloe up shots here are my 2 muskateers mounted nightshot I decided to use the drive covers i eteched before i started this mod.. with a bit of modification of course and heres some of my wire mangagement: wires for the VU meter are ziptied under the mobo cover... and escape here 20pin mobo power is stuffed into this area above the muskateers sexay modular cables, silver sATA 2 cables fun shots shot thru the fan grill front view back view my poor attemtp at getting a night shot overview with LED's on (the auto function on my camer makes the LED's blue for some reason, but the close up keeps them white ) still awaiting: my pannels are still in need of paint, which costs money, which i dont have ATM, so that will need to wait im also waiting for the comflict with primochill tol get settled (gosh im never buying from them again after this incident) till next time --THEkorean
focus... its a hard thing for me.. the close up function on my camera requires me to hold it completely still for a period of time (depending on the lighting situation) and when im required to hold something still, i tend to shake... alot....lol but ill keep trying
