No, but I am a avid camera buff. I love photography, as is evident from the 1100+ pictures in this worklog. It's another one of my hobbies (one I have $$ invested in).
NO LCD monitor can do graphics as well a "old-school" CRT, that said the Ezio ColorEdge comes very-very close.. There are only a handfull of true graphics-quality LCDs. Other brands include LaCie and NEC SpectraView, what they share is 10-bit LUT (look up table) hardware calibration.
Look up table stores the points of the gamma compensation curve and lets you calibrate with very little error. If you ever tried to adjust your monitor with Adobe's Gamma software program you will know what I am "rambling on about".. Adobe Gamma is pure quess work, "well that looks pretty good"..
LUT lets you generatate an accurate profile of your monitors:
Gamma
brightness
black level
white point
Kelvin temp.
This monitor will allow me to generate 20 such profiles, which I can "pick and choose" from in a pull-down menu on Display Properties (advanced)...(color managment)..
Once you have this information, you can replicate it for your camera, printer scanner..That means when you take a picture, look it over on your monitor and/or make changes in PhotoShop the printed result will be just what you wanted..That is huge..No guess work..
Don't forget you would also need that GretagMacbeth color-measurement device (Eye One Display2)..
The price tag for the Eye One Display2 alone was $250US..

CUT TO THE CHASE: is the $1500US Eizo ColorEdge CG19 LCD better than the $500US offerings from Sony-NEC-DELL-ViewSonic-Samsung??
I am sure it is, but how much better? Did I get "bang-for-my-buck"? We will find out soon..
The owner of Soylent Green just purchased a 19" Sony LCD and he asked me to come by and calibrate the LCD with my Gretagmacbeth Eye One stuff... The Sony does not have the 10-bit LUT my Eizo ColorEdge does...SO we will see.
I hope someone other than myself finds this interesting....

Hey MS...Congrats to ya!!! If you ask me I think that little six inch cable made the difference. No seriously, the prize is well deserved IMO. Without being redundant it is hard to come up with an adjective that truly depicts how nice BN really is.

Save some of that cash for the next "Mountain Mods" project.




I'm ditching the 6/8mm tubing for 8/10mm compression fittings and 3/8" Tygon. Where did you get the black Tygon from? If I remember correctly you said it worked well with your 8/10mm fittings correct? I also want to see what I get in terms of flow rates and temps with the bigger diameter tubing.

The black tygon is model R-3400 and the 8/10mm fittings will work with tube size:
5/16"ID 7/16"OD
Both McMaster-Carr and MSC Industrial Supply should have it in stock..

I've had this booked into my 'subscribed' threads for some time and its definately one of the amazing mods that has made me go out, buy a dremel and get myself a nice Lian Li to tear apart

 

The only thing I see thats not to like is that the Aquaero reads 0,9 Liter /Minute. As in, the ",". No way to swithc it ot a .?

 

The temps in the Aqua-Computer Aquaero VFD show up the same way (like) 25,7C..
I know of no way to change it..

 

I guess it's due to us pesky europeans using different delimiters..

A bit of thread-revival, but thanks for the positive-comments guys.
BN is my "everyday" computer. Type a letter, send a email and all the rest. The machine is rock-soild. Not a problem to speak of in the (about 7-months) of use. The AMD FX-55 and Nvidia GeForce 6800Ultra are no-longer top of the line, but still "pretty-good" stuff..
I will do a BN-Rev 2.1 upgrade next year..

Hey what kind of temps do you get with that FX-55 and is it watercooled? Thats what im running and wanted to see where yours was at. Also what kind of temps do you get on the narcissus?

idle temps, the room is about 23C..
I have NO problem answering questions about my "old projects".. But, a PM is perhaps the best way. We need to move forward. This machine was FIN-2006 (and I am glad to say) has been "in service" since then. (typing @ you with it!)..
I thank you for your time spent reading the countless-pages of my PG, BUT-- There are so-many new projects,
Bigger and Better.. IMHO, look to the future not the past!

If Modsquad himself is listening, the statement you gave earlier is only partly true, and I'll tell you why.

Sure there are newer mods around, but only a few mods around here have stayed in peoples minds, Orac3, Dark Blade, Black Narcissus, Metaversa etc. Why, because they all brought something new to modding (and partly because they all took a long time to finish ).

I think these project logs should be on every modders reading list. At least I do read them trough once in a while to get inspiration and new ideas.

How about the rest of you?
