looks very nice i like it, and i never noticed it before but you should never have a problem with mounting fans in that case , cause you got little airflo holes all over the place, looks very very very nice
Yet another small update. The paint finally set-up on my radiator mounting hardware. It looks much better!! I am using a YS TECH 120x38mm fan.(more cable sleeving). 125CFM@ 45db. I am still waiting for stuff from Aqua-Computer to show up, and I have to work the next three days, so... MS
lovely work... I've been thinking of buying one of the new Lian-Li's - just not sure between the v1000 and v1100... Hmm them amazing long rads come in 30cm, 35cm, 45cm, 55cm and 1m lengths... The intention of the 1m is to wall mount I want your setup anyways.. keep up the amazing work!
Minor Setback I decided to test-fit my Vantec Stealth 520w Power Supply in the V1000, and it became immeditely apparent that it would not fit in the case with the stock support pillar for the power supply section in place. Now I saw the reviews on the case before purchasing it, stating the crampted PSU area but did not consider the Vantec "over-sized". Perhaps it is (6.5" deep), the Enermax Noisetaker 470w I have in my other unit is 5.5" deep. I would say that even the Enermax would "not fit" if you expect good air-flow from the front fan. I am not sure what PSU Lian Li envisioned people using with this case. I had to remove the support pillar to install the power supply. The case is very solid without it, and I do not think I need the support pillar. before after No major thing, just a "minor setback", but I thought future owners of a v1000 should know. My Vantec Stealth fell-in after removing the pillar. I will have to shorten two of the mounting bolts for my Aqua-Computer Full Metal Jacket encased Eheim1046 pump (luckly there is some room above the power supply). While I had to take the pump out of the case I decided to paint the AQ Full Metal Jacket (comes in black primer). Black paint drying as we speak I will get it back together and post a few pictures soon.
Is it just me or did you mount the PSU upside down? Or do the wires naturally come out of the left (typically windowed) side? I'd hardly call that a setback in any case, you fixed it in all of four rivets worth of drilling That's not the stock C-strip molding around that wiring hole... where'd you get that new one? I like that kind a lot and the stuff I got from mnpctech wasn't exactly what I was expecting (more like [-strip than C-strip, not rounded at all). Nice sleeving job, too, btw. ...are we having another thunderstrom outside??! Well, serves me right for posting at 3am. Helps cool the room a lot though, although a bit bothersome with 3 comps and 1.5 laptops in the room (one of the laptop had it's hdd and dvd stolen for an EPIA system Which it turns out is about the same size as the laptop. /me 's self for going so OT So, what are your next plans for this? It looks like it's near ready for hardware One thing that I did which really helped tidy wires up was to make a mini-fanbus. You may wanna do something like it. I picked up some 3pin fan headers from performance-pcs.com and soldered them onto a PCB that I picked up from radioshack (they have one that works quite well for it, same one that's often used in the 8 LEDs on parallel port mod) and soldered on a couple of wires for power. You may wanna rewire your inverters to have a 3pin connection and set them up on that. It wouldn't be hard to cut the traces in the right spot and make half of it 7v headers to quiet down fans too. Just a suggestion... it's much more compact than most fanbusses and really helps cut back on excess wiring clutter.
The Vantec PS is odd. It is opposite from most, if I installed the other way around everything on the rear would be upside-down. Here's a picture of the rear with correct switch/plug orientation (exhaust fan facing down). This is the way I installed it. The c-channel I used was purchased from frozenCPU (I think it was $1.50 per foot). It looks much better than the stock white plastic stuff. I am still awaiting more than a few items to show up (Aqua-Computer gear from Germany). I still need actual computer parts, the AMD A64 FX-53 Processor alone is $800, so cash becomes a issue. Plus I still plan on modifiing the front 5.25" bay area with acrylic (red or smoked still unsure which). So, I have a way to go.
Yeah I was going to get the Cstrip from FrozenCPU as well. I wasn't sure if there was some magical place I could get it from dirt cheap... I suppose the wierdness of the PSU kinda works in your favor for this one though, since it's all backwards so the wires are on the nonwindowed side Of course depending on if/where/how big your window will be it may not matter at all.
That's why I bought my Opteron.... my 2.2GHz can easily be OC'ed to 2.4 (that of the FX-53) especially with watercooling. $400 vs. $800.... for essentially the same thing. I'm expecting a FX-55 or 57 type OC.... We'll see
This is coming out very nice man. By looking at this log ive decided to get that case. I love macs so it only made sense to make my pc look like one. Sadly i think the only thing i will mod to this case is paint the inside black and cut out a window. Thanx again.
The optron is like the fx 53. please elaborate Nice case mod btw. I like the server version better, before I planed my current case mod I was thinking about getting the server version of that case and modding a thermochill 120.3 into the bottom side of it. Looking forward to the rest of the mod EVRE
Full Metal Jacket I had to remove my Eheim1046 pump to test-fit the Vantec PS in BlackJack. So, it was a golden opportunity to paint the Aqua-Computer Full Metal Jacket that encases my pump. The AQ FMJ comes in a black primer, that actualy looks good without paint. But. Now it looks very good. I also wanted to paint the "bits" of the 1046 that stick out of the Full Metal Jacket, but the paint I am using is not for plastic, so I used the Sharpie.. Bolted the unit back together and I am all set.
the fx-53 is a bit overblown.. but i would insist you still stay on socket 939... and get a nforce3 250 ultra board for the cpu.. get the A64 3800 i think it is.. its basically the fx-53, cept with 512k L2 as oppsed to 1mb.. and in benches the cache doesnt seem worth that much more $$ so keep it skt 939, the nf3 250 ultra chipset will be the best for oc'ing if nf2 U400 is anything to go by.. and save some cash by getting a A64 3800... it depends on how much you willing to spend extra for that extra 512K L2 and unlocked Multi also.. ram wise.. check out that ram that uses BGA instead of TSOP.. and make it DDR500 for the system (1ghz HT bus means 250 x 4.. so ddr500 will be needed to utilize it ) i have longed for that case since first seeing it... i just think its possibly the best case for pc's yet.. it seems so well built anyway, ill be following this mod.. and have you came up with any ideas for the window shape.. as you said.. no going back ps.. red + black will look amazing, and actually quite original.. im so used to seeing blue + silver/black.. it will be a nice change.. speshly with all them vent holes being lit
Honestly, I have not given much thought to window shape as of yet. I do know I want something different. MS
pump looks very good, i find it funny that people will pay for a case that does not even have a "full" front panel (all the holes) but nice case even though, looks good keep the mod up!!!
Well some people like the look of the holes, some don't. Regardless, they help for ventilation. Dunno why you don't call it "full" though, it's not as if it doesn't come with drive blanking plates.
Hi, you do great job man !! I'm a bit late to ask this question but i wanna know where did you get you'r diamond plate ? Do you know if there any online shop in canada or maybe, near from there ?? Thx in advance !
