You just hit a home run Firehed. That is where Dan gets his AC gear. The problem is shipping cost. ShoNuff has ordered direct, so he has more information than I do. We PM'ed back/forth many times about the subject, but if memory serves--it would not make sense to place small ($) orders from them.

    New Power Supply

Here is a few shots of the new PC Power & Cooling PSU. Very nice unit.
Notice the trim pots above the TurboCool logo and +12V@34A :thumb:
Clean black finish, lets get rid of the sticker.
The unit does need work. PCP&C calls the unit "fully-sleeved"
NOT.. Will replace all the white connectors with black ones as well as finish the sleeving job.
They also used white cable-ties for stress relief, they will have to go as well.
    PS: (thinking about installation)...
I remember reading (somewhere) that when powering a 6800Ultra, you should not use two molex plugs from the same lead (aka set of wires). True/False??

The "power with seperate leads" instruction was for the very early production samples of the 6800ultras. Soon after the community heard (and then became upset) that a 4XX watt power supply was a REQUIREMENT and not a recomendation nvidia made some modifications to components on the board and only required a 3XX watt ps (which at the sametime got rid of the need for seperate leads). I have one working off a single lead right now and its overclocked and watercooled and it has narry given a twitch. So, in short your in the clear using a single lead...ESPECIALLY with a super stable PCP&C ps.

Looks good! Yeh I think that sleeving job and the white connectors are abit 'under standard' for the price of that power supply really. I mean why sleeve it black with white connects - it ruins the effect!

    Anyways keep us updated!

I agree in one way... but dont in another, the looks of the PSU are irrelevant if it out performs everything, yet it looking nice would always be a bonus

that psu looks really nice, shame about the price tag on them, then again i suppose thats the price you pay for the best

    keep on modding :dremel:

Edit: Damn firehed... you posted at the same time as me... i must admit for the price they should atleast heatshrink right upto the molex + be fully sleeved... but still lol

    Oh I'm good :naughty: :D

How dare PCP&C call that fully sleeved.... for that price it should DEFINATELY have all-black connectors and have a better done sleeving job (ie sleeve everything and not go with three inches of heatshrink before the molexes!). They cost a fortune!

Still, it should work out nicely for ya. Can't wait to see it finished and installed.... it feels like the end is near :jawdrop:

It doesn't really make sense to order from Austria if you are placing a small (<$100) order b/c of shipping costs. Another thing you must consider is the state of the goods once they arrive at your door. If the item is arrives damaged it just may not be worth it to send it back across the pond. If you order from Dan all you have to do is send it back and hope he has a replacement. If you order direct from Austria you will have to encumber those expensive shipping charges. Fortunately, all has been good with me and everything has arrived without incident. :hip:

Realistically I still say Dan is your best bet. For hard to find or "must have" items that Dan doesn't stock ordering from Austria is convenient. Bottom line, it is good to have an alternate source.

I've ordered stuff direct from Alphacool in Germany before. The shipping charge is either $30 (20 Euros) with DHL or 50 Euros with UPS. My three experiences have gone well, with the products arriving within two weeks and being well packaged and in great condition.

Indeed. Luckily Dan is expanding his catalog fairly often so it's really just the wait that is/can be a problem.

    /edit
To go back to this... I tried to sign up just to get an idea of what shipping costs would look like, and US definately isn't on the list of countries...

However MS, This might be useful if you're decent at German. Not sure what I experimentally added to my cart, but shipping was only 5 euros to VT from Berlin (I'd think). No idea what the turnaround time is but thought you might find it useful.

You have to email them with what you want, and then they will give you a quote. They accept Paypal and Visa.

Shipping cost is the killer when ordering from Overseas. The larger your purchase the (slightly) less painful. DHL is MUCH cheaper than UPS but it's the shipping that kills-ya.
I have ordered from AlphaCool a few times, no problems at all. I had the stuff in my hands in two weeks. But at a price.

No, no chrome on the unit. The Vantec (my dead unit) was black as well. The PSU being directly below the chrome FullMetalJacket pump cover would be too-much-chrome (IMO). The area below the V1000's divider plate will get a red acrylic cover to help hide the wiring (at least I think it will). You will not see much of the PCP&C unit.

If you go to the page I linked above with the um... "nice fan" you will see a U.S. Flag in the upper right corner. Clicking on the U.S. Flag will take you to a page that explains the ordering process in greater detail.

It's really easy to order and the good folks at IT-Trade are very responsive and easy to deal with. Now if we could get him to move to the U.S. we would have the best of both worlds; direct access to the best H20 gear on the planet and fast/cheap shipping. :thumb:

edit: I promise to proof read my posts from now on. :duh:

That's why I mentioned AC Berlin - shipping seemed really cheap (5 euros, although it was only a few ounces in weight probably) and they do ship directly apparently.
I upped a tester to 10 aquatubes and it became free shipping, same down to five of them and four was still only five euros. So I'd guess it's free shipping from AC Berlin over 200e orders.

They don't have any international shipping costs on their shop website though, only collection in person and German Post Office, so I would assume you have to contact them for shipping outside of Germany. Which in turn would mean it's not gonna be €5 unfortunately

Perhaps, but it looks like I could have placed an order at that cost. Not sure, didn't try :p
