O_ya the motherboard is antiquated.. :duh:
    http://usa.asus.com/products/mb/socket939/a8v-d/overview.htm
It does use the Via K8T800pro chipset not the new T890, but give me a break.
As for the FX-55.. You know what... I am not sure why I even bothered to respond (I guess I should not have). This is not a Dell, I did not just order it and wait 2 weeks for delivery. I have spent the last 6 months working on this thing, excuse me if some of the hardware is a few months old..

    Lol.

Cant believe how petty some ppl are.

SInce when has the specs on a machine been that important when the idea is to make a gorgous mod. Your pc looks spot on mate.

Looks great :D Any plans to swap out that board for an A8N SLI or an MSI K8N Neo 4 SLI? I'd imagine the black PCB is just right for your case :hip:

    Lordfear :nono:

It looks like someone has forgotten that this particular forum is about modding, not hardware bragging rights.

If you could not see the mobo, would you not admit that this is a nice mod?

A good mod is a good mod regardless of the hardware used.

In addition its still the highest performing Intel 478 Mobo ever!

Yeah, yeah, yeah... That's what they said with Metaversa... Now it is running a dual Opteron 250. Ownage right there, baby.

A mod is an aesthetic as well as functional product. You can always upgrade the hardware but it is the design and implementation that count first and foremost (no-one bitches that a fully paint-jobbed and chromed 1950's Ford thunderbird is, well, basically a 50-year old car, right?). I wonder whether there is a bit of envy going on here. Anyone can slap the latest mobo, CPU, graphic card in any old box. To build something like Narcissus takes skill and patience.

i just used a lighter :baby: why didn't anybody else think of this idea, it creates heat and doesn't generally melt or burn the heatshrink.

Note: be careful not to expose the lighter for a prolonged period to any one given area, make sure you continually go round the heat shrink to ensure it doesnt melt, burn or blacken :p cheap and easiest way to do it

That also works when done right, but it's easier to screw up and harder to get as good coverage (you can't aim a lighter down!). I've done it but taken so long I burned my hand - having your zippo going for 2mins straight heats up the body of it rather unpleasantly. And that was just a couple fans.

Anyone else notice the Cold Heat soldering iron in the background? Throw that thing away! Get a real soldering iron :duh:! Heh... very nice job, can't wait to see it finished.

Also... an FX-55 out of date... wtf are you on?

Thank you for your eloquent post.

    JaredC01:
I agree, the ColdHeat is less than great. I read a few good reviews on it but I like my old 25watt Weller better.

It is still looking clean, can't wait to hear (or see) the engine roar. I really like your use of the red acrylic. Oh yeah, when those Sunbeam LED's come in, let me know how they look. I am wanting to order some but was waiting for someone else to be the testmonkey! :D
I'll agree the molding does add alot for the clean look of the case as a hole.

Yeah I really wanna see it on too! It'll be sad to see the log come to an end but there's just been SO much that's gone into it.

Personally I really like my coldheat, but there's definately a trick to it and it only works well on smaller stuff (circuitry size, PSU wiring is really too big for it) and definately takes getting used to over a conventional iron.
