I like that idea too. A color other than red would be cool... dark purple perhaps ..surrounding Larry's "?" with wings

    Metal Work

OK, here is what I have been up to this weekend. As I tend to do, (jump around) I let the VFD mount go for now and decided to work on interior cover plates for the 5.25" bay/radiator area.
    Started off with cardboard:
    then some looking/thinking/drinking:
here's what I ended up with:
    decided against a top-rear cover..
now to translate the cardboard templates into sheet aluminum (the same AC Ryan stuff). I used a dewalt power shear:
I did the small (EZ) one first:
the bottom edge will be bent 90-degrees and become the mounting point.
    lets see how it looks:
on to the large main plate. Same deal, although I did "tweak" the design a little after transferring the pattern to the aluminum.
    some c-strip:
    and a test-fit:
there is still a good amount of work needed for this cover. It needs top mounting holes as well as a hole in its center for the air intake of the dual radiator. That will have to wait for another day. Out of time, all I offer is a few more pictures:
    sorry about the finger-prints!

That does it for now. Only had about 5-6 hours of free time for the project..
    Until next time!

Personally I don't like the rubber trim around the edges. Excellent work though.

A bit late, but what if you made it in one piece? It would look much better with the rubber molding than it does now.

    Still, I like it.

Love the idea. Although the c-stripping looks a bit out of place, it works on the parts, but not really on that part. You said you're going to airbrush it, right? I think it would be best to airbrush those parts (including the sides) that would look sweet. It's the first time is see the full wc setup in a pic. It looks simply amazing. Are those innovatek radiators good? I'm not sure, but won't the black ice or thermochill ones work a lot better? I know they might not look as sweet, but i think cooling performance should be more important. Why not use some chrome black ice radiators like on soylent green, that looked awesome...

It looks great, but I agree with what others have said in their reactions: the rubber trim seems out of place. I would just put in the panels, make sure those edges are filed very well and then they're nice and smooth.

Maan, every time I see updates on this project, you make me fell so good. I like this bling bling style, really I do.
I don't think the c-strip is out of place, I think it's rounding off perfectly the edges, and go very well with the mod - but that's might just me :hehe: Maybe it would have looked better if the two plates were cut in one piece, but I know how thin that piece which would hold it together would be. Maybe you did it the only right way, I don't know.

And I have to agree with alpha_prime the watercooling setup is stunning! It's SO clean, and VERY well done!
You're a big inspiration to us all, keep going modsquad!
