Project: Black Zodiac | Update: 30. jan. 2007

After I saw the movie: 13 ghost, I decided to create a case-con in this theme.



Unfortunately, I can't copy a long scratched text from the movie, so I engraved some text from the Bible, from the Relevation in Latin, of corse

Here is the graving plan:

The frame of the case is from Maytec profil system, I bought some 20x20mm EP type with plastic glass-holder for 4mm plexi.



This is the plan, how to connect the profil system with plexi. I used 2 type, acrilic and uv-active blue.



The arcrilic will graved with text from Bible, and blue graved with draw of the ghosts. I copied the pictures from the movie with printscreen and edit with paint shop pro.

 

To connect the profil system, I created eight alu cube (the Maytec connection profiles are tooooo expensive...).

I created the light for gravings, with high bright blue led:

 

I want use same color for everything, so I changed the rack led. Some blue smd looks great and easy to fit-in with glue pistol

These profiles have too big hole, so I need to reduce. The original hole is 6.2mm. I made some M8/M4 screw.

 

You're reducing the size of the hole in the framing? Wouldn't it have been easier to just increase the size of the hole you drilled into your corners bits?

 

This project is looking nice so far, i especially like how you did the led light stick things.

The only thing is a lot of your pictures are blurry so i suggest using the closeup setting on your camera. I'm not sure what the symbol is on yours, on mine its a little flower but it really helps a lot. Good Luck.

Yes, I know the macro mode, but I made this pictures with an old camera, so the image quality isn't good enough sorry...

 

I pimped my new psu (LC-power LOL) with silver wrap and blue molex set.



Then I created the bottom panel. I drilled the plexi with Ferm combitool (same as Dremel) for two SilentStorm 120mm fan.



Then I fixed the case feet (Sunbeam feet, with blue led). After finished, I give some power and test the light. Good enough

news: I started the graving. First symbol: The Torso. This is a print-screen from the movie:


I made some modification with PSP and then I graved this into a blue UV-reactive polycarbonate.

 

I created thumbs, could be faster

Testing the uv-reactive gravings with dual UV-CCFL:

 

I tried copy some text from the movie, but I can't find enough so I copy some text from the latin Bible, from Relevation of John. I found a good font too, so it's more easier. It just print to file, make the mirrored image and print. The mirrored image is need for make gravings to back side of glass.

 

Gravings was a neverending story....day by day... I graved all side. Every side is double-layer, one blue and one acryl.

When finished, I fixed led-lights.

 

wow, just wow, dude. that is some great etching. it would look immensely cooler, though, if you had used mirror. im not sure what the final design is, but etched mirror with light shining through the etching looks badass.

 

no, there is no mirror. I graved text to the back side of polycarbonate, so I mirrored the printed text then graved.
