Time for a new project all. Why Black3d?? Well first off the case is quite obviously black so we can get that right out of the way! But I want to combine this with a decent gaming rig that looks professional but with the full intention of being a gaming rig I've got myself: Lian Li PC71b I knew that this case needed some special treatment! Current hardware: AMD Opteron 175 DFI LANPARTY SLI-D Club3d 7900GTX 512mb 2 x Mushkin Redline PC4000 SB Audigy 2 ZS 1 x 160gb Hitachi Deskstar 2 x 40gb Hitachi Deskstars in RAID 0 Sony DVD/CDRW Crystalfontz CFA635 USB LCD PCP&C 510 SLi Watercooling: Aquacomputer Evo 360 Radiator Aquacomputer Evo 360 Silver Grill Zen PC CPU Block Aplhacool NexXxoS NVXP-3 Nvidia GPU block D5 Pump DD Floppy Drive Reservoir 1/2" Clearflex tubing Jubilee Clamps Blue UV Water Dye Lighting: Dual 12" UV Cold Cathode Kit Dual 4" UV Cold Cathode Kit Project has been helped enormously by SpecialTech and will hopefully continue to be Crystalfontz gave me the LCD for review and its going to be coming to the new project Pics will be forthcoming...
Meet The Lian Li PC-75b Right first up is the case. I have got it and cut out the top part ready for cutting. I was going to cut this myself but I bought the Rad and Rad grill from Kustom so I decided to get them to cut it at the same time drilled out the pop-rivets that hold the case top onto the case. Easy job Unwrapping! Sexy front Inside the case Inside Front Rear Inside Rear Side Inside Top And the case top off Looking good. Very nice case. Very light. Just the "professional" look I want
My php thumbs with links won't work EDIT: Should do now Anyway ordered: Aquacomputer Evo 360 Radiator - Ordered Aquacomputer Evo 360 Silver Grill - Ordered Aplhacool NexXxoS NVXP-3 Nvidia GPU block - Ordered EDIT: My tools
Right folks I need some ideas. I am going to put a window in the side panel so thats a start. What other exciting things can I do with this baby?? Give me some inspiration please?
first, you need a colour scheme- try red- always looks cool- so then you'll need 6 red Led/Uv 80mm fans, 3/5 red Uv/Led 120mm fans some red Uv dye, some red cathodes LEDs ect. and get some nice acrylic in the window- should look like a treat!! AJ.
Maybe try some engraving, looks always sweet, either on acrylic or right on the sidedoor! Looking forward to see some working here, nice case! Btw, agreed with Mankz here, try to find a colour scheme, so you dont get blue LEDs, red cathodes and yellow acrylic!
Thanks for the replies guys! I currently have Blue UV Dye and UV Cold Cathodes. I am thinking of trying this Orange UV dye that I have but I think its a bit pink! The LANPARTY motherboard is mainly yellow and orange so if I can get an orange UV dye that is ACTUALLY orange then I like orange as a main colour for the water with maybe blue highlights elsewhere. What dya think? Deffo going to get some black and silver action going on inside the case. Unsure if I want to paint the indide though so maybe some black and silver highlights (like polished perforated aluminium). There's definately going to be a window in the case and I may try my hand at some etching into it. I like drawing so I'll come up with some ideas on paper and show you guys I'm also trying to think how I can incorpoarte the spare CM Crossflow I have fan into the case as that is awesome for cooling the entire motherboard EDIT: Just thought I'd show you just how sexy the Crystalfontz LCD really is
i know that the Lanparty is Yellow Uv- but the Redline is red (ithink -im colour-blind) so red and Yellow seems like a good idea!! Just seen the LCD- Matrix Orbital, Eat it!!!!!!
Yeah good point. I was kinda thining green or blue at first but maybe you've made me change my mind. I have seen some UV dye that is clear with no UV light on it but glows red or whatever under UV so mebbe that could work And btw - this Crystalfontz is far superior to an MO display - just my opinion
Sorry to SPAM but I've had a few people comment on the AC Rad I have G1/4 to 1/2" connectors with O rings as my tubing is 1/2". I can't really see a review of the RAD but from what I've seen this shouldn't be a problem with a highish flow setup like the one above. Others do not agree. Any comments?
Just drill the pop-rivets out with a 3mm metal drill bit mate Doesn't need much convincing after that If you want I can get pics of what to do but that won't be till I get the case top back
Pics would be great mate - if you could also explain how and how to re-rivet, what bits needed etc would also be good. Just that mine has a dent near front of top and would like to remove top and somehow straighten it. Cheers Kempex.
I'm not planning on re-riveting BTW - just going to get some nice M3 screws and screw it back up. You could do it easily enough with a rivet gun tho
Quick update: I have sent off the top for cutting and fitting of the AC Evo 360 rad + grill. Got a day off thursday so hoping it'll be back for then Also I have sold the old case so I need to get this project kick-started
Recieved yesterday: alphacool NexXxos waterblock. Not too impressed with the base finish but the top looks nice. I will be getting myself a lapping kit Kustom say that the top should be with me friday which is a bummer as I have tomorrow off and they recieved it tuesday morning I also recieved some M3 x 6/10/16mm screws and some M3 full bolts Tomorrow (thursday 18th) I will be finishing off a graphics card review roundup I need to get out then hopefully getting some work done on the project. I've sold the stacker now so fingers crossed for some good work
Just one question even it's already too late: Why didn't you take one of those: clicky //edit: Need more pics? http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost.php?p=1226706&postcount=762
Hi Mate. Thanks for looking and the suggestion I got half-sponsered by SpecialTech on the GPU block so I got it VERY cheap. I will lap it and see what the temps are on it. If they aren't to my liking then I was going to sell it and get one of those
Nice Little update for you. Got loads of stuff from Kustom Today: Case Top Cut AC Evo 360 Rad AC 360 Rad Grill Blowhole Trim SilenX 120mm Fan Lapping Kit Pics of the good stuff Bits: Case top: Rad: Test Fitting: Thanks to Kustom PC's for that My mate gave me a piece of plexi he had laying around so Imma get my dremel out in a bit to practice, then think about cutting out a small window in the case. Here's a preview of what I want the window to look like: Lapping Kit came today too so imma get that block lapped
Think that rad/fan guard would look nice in black - bit stealthier. Nice parts btw and a good job done by Kustom.
