Hi there, It is time my friends to embark on yet another modding adventure. But first, a little background on me. I am 18 years old and live in Austin, TX. I come to bit-tech often to check out what is going on with the current modding scene and watch projects go from nothing to absolute wonderful works of art. I have tried modding before and I didn’t go too far. That was because my goals were too far fetched for my skill. I am an artist and love creating things but in this case (haha) I am limited in what I can do. So, thank you for reading my project, this is going to be fun. (I’d like to remind everyone to READ what I have to say, you might miss something if you don’t.) [project begin] Welcome to project blackbox… This project will take an ordinary Shuttle SB75G2 and make it quite flashy. Specs: Shuttle SB75G2 Pentium 4 2.6c 1gig Corsair XMS DDR550 PC-4400 ATi 9700 Pro Audigy 2 ZS 120gig Seagate SATA Slimline CDRW+D 24x24x24x8 300w power supply Everything is ordered and is coming in with a few days. During that time I will just prep my work space and post pictures of the things I have currently I will use to mod. Project goals: Best looking shuttle, yay Extremely quiet (I have ordered replacement fans already) OC the 2.6 without frying it Planned mods: The mods are where the magic is right? I think so too. I will first start off modding the PSU when it comes in. It looks like this. You are saying mod the PSU? What could he be doing to it? Good question. Besides swapping the white molex for black and sleeving it black, I have to make the actual size of the PSU smaller to fit in the shuttle correctly. I’ve been told this isn’t hard to do, it just takes a long time. So, that is first. Then, time to completely dismantle the shuttle. Once in pieces, I either will paint the interior or get it anodized black. When it is in pieces, I will start the big mods. So, I could keep going on and on and on talking about this thing, but the thing I like about projects is, they are ever changing and surprising me, so I will do the same. As soon as parts come in, I will begin on them. The shuttle will be here tomorrow and I will start taking it apart. Yay. Anyway, Thanks again for taking the time to read my project, look forward to more updates, you will not be disappointed. -emu
And they are pretty flashy to start with! Sounds very promising. Will keep my eye on that one. How are you going to mount the Slimline CD-Rom, btw?
So, I messed up, shuttle isn't coming in until monday, my memory and sound card will be here tomorrow, so looks like I'm not going to be doing much until then. I'll post pictures of the stuff when it gets here, until next time. -emu
i hate when that happens, you order all this ****, and nothing ever arrives when you think it will but in due time, it will all be worth it
yeah waiting for stuff to arrive is the worst thing about modding (well except for the **** ups) I just hate paying for something and not getting it right away sigh: as i wait for my things to get here) anyways cant wait to see what you can do with such a small case. JEEVES
He may not even know what blackbox is, seeing as he was referring to the shuttle as the "blackbox". Personally, I don't like blackbox that much...its a little too clean for my taste. I like my desktop to have a little bit of clutter Makes me feel at home
One suggestion so far, instead of anodizing the case (it tends to scratch off, at least, my Angel was anodized black and is chipping and scratching away), look into powdercoating it a shiny gloss black. Ouija did it on project HYOOJ I think, it turned out great. I think anodizing it was more expensive too.
Thanks for the tips there, it doesn't matter what I'm going to do really.. I've been boths shops in the last week, both look good to me, I don't know, just have to see what I feel like doing As for updating, I got very ill the past day or whatever, and haven't been around, I update on monday I guess, I have almost everything in and unpacked, I'll start taking pictures and all that good stuff. I know how people love pictures. =) Anywho, Thanks for reading, until then.. -emu (Oh and about the blackbox thingy, no, thats just the project name, I didn't even know what blackbox was until I looked at that site, I named this blackbox because of all the priceless information it holds! Kind of like the thing on planes, but those are day-glo orange...)
