I wouldn't even know how to ship something to Sri Lanka, that's about half the world away I noticed that www.frozencpu.com does international shipping and they sell the grills, so I think that might be best for you. Check it out here: http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/flc-41.html
Grrr, they want me to PayPal 'em the money and it comes to GBP30ish for something that should be GBP15!! If you could assist just drop me an email dude thanks! You could just airmail 'em
Finally, the completed pics! I must have taken about 60 pictures, and these are the best. Enjoy! Let's start with the finished case, taken with the flash on, from a few angles: You can see the black painted floppy and CD drives very well in this pic: This is about the best shot of the wiring I could get. Every visible wire is sleeved, and there are no more wires visible than necessary: Time to light it up! Continued in next post...
Time for the real money shots: Nice blue glow on the internal components when the cathodes are on: Good shot of the insides with the side panel off: I swear I never planned this when I made the case or placed the cathodes, it was a nice surprise! The light from the cathodes shine out of the case, and reflects all over the wall in this cool pattern: My office looks totally blue when it's all lit up. I have to say this project turned out better than I could have expected. In case anyone is interested, here are the specs: Athlon XP 1800+ with Zalman fan CPU cooler 512MB DDR Ram GeForce 4200 128MB Video Card, with Zalman GPU heatsink cooler Gigabyte GAVRXP Rev. 2 Motherboard Enermax 350 W PSU, painted black Plextor 8x4x32 CDRW drive, fully painted black (oldie but a goodie!) DVD drive, fully painted black Floppy drive, fully painted black 2x80GB Maxtor HD's running in Raid 0 configuration Leadtek Winfast TV 2000XP TV card 7x Thermaltake Blue Eye case fans I'm sure I forgot something in there. The Nexus fan controller I bought is fantastic, and I would highly recommend it to anyone. If I had bought 2 sound controlled cathodes alone, it would have cost me almost the same as I paid for this 3 channel controller with the 2 sound activated cathodes. I have the 2 front intakes on one channel, the 2 side intakes on another, and the 3 exhaust fans on the 3rd channel and it works great. I installed Silver rounded IDE cables, and sleeved the visible PSU wires with silver sleeving. I sleeved the internal USB cables black and they look great too. The CPU fan is controlled by a Zalman fan controller, tucked away under the PSU. I'm sure I'll make some little changes to it in the future, but for now it's done. Thanks to everyone for their support and comments! You all get a
Wow. Great looking case. I was gonna buy Vantec colored fans, but those really look good! How much did they cost, and can we have multiple colors? Also, how do you like your TV Tuner so far? I can't decide between the Leadtek winfast 2000xp deluxe tuner, or an AIW 9600 / 9700 / 9800... Great job!
Uh-Oh: I got the fans very cheap from www.ncix.com. If you sign up for their newsletter, they have some great deals now and again. They are regularly priced at about $18 CDN, but I got them for $5! I forgot to post a pic of the HD access on the case; it lights up both front intake fans red (that's a feature of these fans), and I changed the HD access LED to red as well. It looks pretty cool. The TV Tuner is pretty good, but unfortunately it's not overly compatible with other TV Tuner software. I've also had problems with recent driver and software updates they've released, but as long as I stick to the drivers and software released in June it works great for me. I'd recommend it, but then again I haven't tried anything else. I would think an AIW would be a great choice, and save you a PCI slot as well. BSODMike - I'll email you soon, maybe we can find a way to get those fan grills to you! I'm trying to get a 6" blue Cold Cathode to mount behind the vent holes in the bottom front of the case. The pics suggest that it's lit up very well down there, but in reality it isn't. If I can get one of those, it should really make the front light up. Thanks for all your comments!
that seriously looks great! (what are your temps? I have the same CPU cooler - which way do you have the fan blowing? and did you find that the side intakes help a lot with that?) hope to make somthing as good as this one day!
Thanks for all the comments guys! jazzle - The fan is blowing on the heatsink. Right now, my idle temp is about 48C. I haven't really tested it under load yet. That may sound high, but my comp is in a very warm room all of the time so that's not bad to me. Also, my XP 1800+ is a Palomino and those tend to run hottest of all Athlon chips from what I've heard. The side intake seemed to help by a few degrees. I think the overall airflow is much better in this case than my old case; I have each case fan running through the fanbus at less than half of max (probably about 1000RPM; these are low speed fans to begin with), and my CPU fan running at only 1650 RPM, and the temps are about the same as in my old case when I had all the fans going full speed all the time. I'd consider than an improvement. My main goal in this project was to never sacrifice form for function, and vice versa, and I think I did a good job of that. I didn't want a good looking case that didn't perform well. This case looks great, cools well, and is very quiet; and I can turn the fans up when I need it. Worked out really well
This is by far one of the most beautiful cases I have ever seen. I hope my case turns out half as good as yours did. Keep up the good work.
