    Thanks everyone :thumb:

    hehe lol :)

Thanks RedManc, yeah they work great, its not quite as strong as it would be with acrylic but its a load easier.

lol, thanks monkeyfun, personally though I prefer blue to orange.

Thanks voigts, thats what I was aiming for :)

Yeah, could have been cool, too late now though :( the top panel is stuck on solid.

Next bit of work is the top panel sides. I started by marking the areas I need to mill onto a 3mm strip of alu:

I then milled out slots along the strip using a 4mm milling bit:

I then sanded down the rough bits and stuck on some double sided tape:

I then stuck the alu piece onto the wood so it doesn't move as I change the position of the clamps, I then milled the strip edge down with a larger milling bit to give a smoother finish:

I then milled down some sections to 0.5mm:

The next update on these should be tomorrow.

And here's me thinking I was somewhat of a metal worker... Back to the drawing board...

Excellent work! Great attention to detail, not to mention quality craftsmanschip! Stunning!

There to fit over the blocks that hold the top panel onto the case as well as the blocks that hold the CD/DVD cage onto the case.

Thanks nagyizom, I'm glad to here my log makes an interesting read :)

    Lol :D, Thanks Jipa

    Thanks HighWire :thumb:

Thanks JV, that is one of the reasons I like this type of work, as specially when I takes a while to make it, as it adds to the feeling of accomplishment :)

    Next update will be tomorrow.

Heres the next update, I've filed out the holes:

I then JB welded in some rare earth magnets:

I then JB welded the strips onto the case:

Then strips will be painted in a rubbery paint to eliminate any rattling between case and side panel.

I then used a Jigsaw to roughly cut out a side panel, I then used the milling machine to trim down the side panel to match the case. I then trimmed down the ends so that the side panel fits over the top panel sides:

I then milled down a large section in order to make the curved part of the side panel:

I then setup a jig to hold a tube onto the side of a table and to hold the alu down while I hammered it with a rubber mallet:

    Heres the result:

I then drilled two holes for the cables for the heatsink LED's:

I then drilled out the many many holes for attaching the heatsink:

And then the two large holes for the coolant angle barbs:

Heres the heatsink acrylic where it will fit:

Great stuff. I don't like to use magnets, though. They do things to the metal plate in my head...

    Thanks voigts :thumb:

Thanks Nutman, sweet I hadn't noticed that :)

    Thanks SiiP & Waynio :thumb:

I'll have to make sure I don't get the hardware close to them as I'm installing it too. It was the best way I could think of making it without using screws or any other visible mechanism. I do have a plan in case the magnets aren't strong enough though.

I need everyone's opinion on something. I can't decide what finish I should have on the edge of the acrylic sheet that seals the heatsink. At the moment its just the finish that came with it which look pretty cool:

But its not as nice when there's a bright light shining on it:

Any ideas on what the best finish could be?

I'll say sand the sides with like 300grit paper. So that it's frosted.

I would also go with a frosted look, I think it would suit the finish on the rest of the case.

As ever, looking forward to more :)
