You may have seen this in the competitions section but no comments allowed there so I've posted here to get your comments/suggestions. Not quite finished yet, just a few finishing touches, like stealthing that CD-ROM and fixing the audio cable in place. It's called Project :: Bulky II - The Rebirth. Earlier in the year I did a breifcase mod which incorporated a TFT display but it had a few limitations so I decided to craft a new case out of plexi. i knew someone would do this eventually, I just didn't have the money to do it. then again I don't think I would be able to do as nice a job. good work.
hydrogen18 :: Not sure that it would fit on the Creative GeForce4 4400 card as it has a strange looking device on their at present. Thanks for all the complements so far guys If anyone has any suggestions for improvements/additions I'd love to head 'em. Cheers, CC
Wow, that is sweet. I had an idea to do something like that awhile ago, except my idea was to stick the tft in a Lian Li case, incorporate speakers and mount the wireless reciever for my keyboard and mouse in the case as well as aquiring a second front bezel and modding it to fit the back of the case to cover all wiring, etc. That way it was only a case and keyboard/mouse. I would have done it too if I had the money, and I may still do it, when I get some money. So now you all can steal that idea and do it before I can. :cries: Ok, that was kinda off subject, but that is seriously sweet BTW, how loud is it? I dont see it being very loud with all the 120mm ys-techs.
hprcrazyguy :: The fans are connected to a 7v/off/12v fanbus and are usually run at 7v and are pretty quiet - that is compared to the CPU fan. I am going to experiement with a couple of fan adapters I've got to allow me to use an 80mm fan otherwise I think I'll have to seriously consider using a P4 setup instead. Don't get me wrong, I like AMD, and my other two PC's are both AMD but I guess the cases they are in provide more sound proofing than a perspex case does. Cheers, CC
n0fear: that score is 10243, and I read that without my glasses But seriously, its "just" (10k is good) 10k, not 90k (although that would be insanely sweet). see, a little photoshop enlarge and sharpen see 10243 CharlieCat: Put an AX-7 or an Alpha with a low noise fan on it, should cool that 2100+ unless you o/c'ed it. Oh, I just noticed the TFT is a touchscreen, that is sweet, how much did it cost and does it work well?
mashie :: I am in two minds about handles. On the one hand they would make it easier to move (it's pretty weighty and it's heavier at the front due to the screen) but then again would it spoil the overall look? n0fear :: Looks like some of you guys have not noticed that if you click on the pic's you get a hoooooge crystal clear version. hprcrazyguy :: I have only just installed W2K and basic drivers for now. So no tweaking or optomising has gone on yet - also not O/C either - so a 3DMark of 10k is okay I guess. I found that it's the Crystal Orb that is the noisiest fan - apart from the YS's when on full pelt. So I've removed it for now and gone back to the standard passive HS. Yep it's a touch screen which works supprisingly well. It is for the units second purpose :: A mobile MP3 jukebox. I have written a VB app which currently works with an IRMan remote control thing and am in the process of adapting the interface to take advantage of the touch screen capabilities of the system. Screenshot of it running [Click image for fullsize] (note it is work-in-progess) As for cost of the screen, I picked it up earlier this year on eBay for £280. I took a bit of a risk as the guy selling it did not seem to know what exactly he had. He advertised it as running at only 1024x768, when it does 1280x1024, and also he said that he could not test the touch screen side of things - which work fine. I also bought another 15" touch screen late last year, also from eBay, for £220, which is currently hanging on my wall as the interface to my MP3 jukebox. Cheers, CC
dude, seriously schweet...touch screen!!! I cant find a link to it but ages ago i saw this mod where this guy built in a slidin tray out of plexi, and put the keyboard on it. He could just roll it out of the tower....for his set up, it was pointless as he kept his tower on the floor! but for you it would be sooooo schweet, amazing for lans....I'm not sure if you will be able to fit a keyboard underneth your mobo though... i will keep an eye out for the link if you're interested....
