Yeah, I think so, too. The clean, automotive design and the awesome execution just screams "quality".

thanks guys, Im really happy to be nominated, as this is my first mod im shocked that i even got nominated. its nice to know that people like what ive done and its things like this that drive me through all the things that dont go as planned. Just to give you an idea of how this goin to look heres a few pics of things coming together:

this is roughly how the front will look, ive installed 2 x areaocool turbine fans in the front, to keep with the chrome/engine style look. I will be snipping the led wires tho as it looks a but rubbish lit up. Obviously ive got to tidy it all up but im happy how it turned out. You can see the xfi front panel at the bottom too, thats been modded with some new amps and caps along with the soundcard itself. i needed the front panel as I love my music and have just got some amazing Sennheiser HD-650 headfones. By replacing the amps and caps it really improved the sound quality. And yes i put down the wrong weedkiller and killed my lawn :(

Got some more of the inside done in leather and have added a few vents to give the case some more airflow. You can see where the vantec fan controller has been added (although ive lost a dust cap somewhere in the shed atm). This will controll the rad fans and the rear exhaust fans.

also made a panel to cover the drive bays up, really neatens the look I think, thanks to Rig over at coolercases forum for spurring me on to do that. That black cadillac piece is the seatbelt cover i got my girlfriend to sew together for me, looks great :)

now working on a replacement for the purple bit in the pic. Just stuck 2 pieces fo MDF together and screwed and glued them. I used my Mouse sander to get the right shape. Im not sure if I want it purple/white or leather. Any ideas would be great. Wont be updating over the weekend as its my birthday on sunday and im getting hammered down the pub :p

    Leather!!! :)

Great job Skunkmonkey. I couldn't pass this up for MotM. It's even my favourite of all of them. The leather just looks so clean.

This project is wonderful! I would've voted for you if my own mod hadn't been chosen also. For the top bit, I think you should keep the leather on the inside, so white, chrome or purple would be better.

Congratulations and good luck an the MoM nomination!:thumb:
I've actually been avoiding this log because your first page was crashing my underpowered surfing 'pooter. I missed a lot of cool stuff!

I have experience in furniture re-upholstery, so I'm going to bug you about your lumps.:D
To strech this stuff, you tack down 1 point, then tack down the spot on the opposite side. You can also use a layer of dacron (the fuzzy padding in plush toys and pillows) to fight the surface lumps. The seams can be filled in with an old trick. Run a thin strip of material with a cord (aquarium hose works good too) wrapped inside it between the seams. This bit involves some sewing...

Looking great, really a compact version of my old '72 Coupe De Ville. And next time you need lawn care advice, let me know, I have 17 years in the lawn and tree and shrub industry....LOL. Good luck on the Mod of the Month!

i think white would go good, as it would keep the leather inside the case.

thanks, yea i definately think white or purple, leather would look wrong on the outside. might try spraying one white and one purple and see which looks best

I'd keep the outside purple and chrome. It looks sweet like that. Save white for your pinstripe color.

-Sorry about bugging you about the uhpolstery.:D I just wanted to help.

yea think your right about the colour. Is there any chrome paints that actually look any good tho? Havent really got the tools to fabricate that shape from aluminium. Is first time ive tried to upholster anything so think i did ok, not too worried as will all be hidden so anyway. Thanks for the tips tho, if I do something similar again il be sure to ask you for your help if thats ok?
