This the start of my case mod. I forgot to get pics of before but I will get them soon. Starting off with the front cover. I am filling the middle gap with the the origional cdrom bezel and i am filling them with bondo cause the gap between them. i just threw the first coat of bondo havn't started sanding. I will also be cutting a 120mm fan hole and filling it with a CD-R spindel cover/lid for better air flow. The front of the case frame had 80mm fans I am using 120mm fans for this case I will soon to fill those holes around the fan. The back of the frame had a 80mm fan as well so I did some dremel action to improve it for 120mm. In the following pics the one top corner of the fan is seen I am thinking of a way to fill that space. Maybe 40 mesh screen and some bondo. Here are a few photos of the sides. Everything will be black on this case but the hardware. More to come Thursday or Friday. Commet make HERE.
Hey mate, not sure what your ideas are for the case yet. But there's one thing I'd like to say. You could best get rid of your Sunon fans and try to get some 9dB Papst fans. That should save you quite some noise. Besides that, make sure to have rubber washers between the case and the fans, so they will not resonate as much. I'll keep an eye on this thread, see what it will turn out like
DAY 2 Update day 2 - After work today i came home and started right away sanding the bezels and smothing them out. After smothing out the bezels i used hole spot filler stuff. I found a CD-R spindle lid at work and made some use out of it. I seen this in a few other mods and wanted to give this a try. As i was looking on the sides of the front cover there was vent holes so i figured it wasn't needed anymore so more bondo action. Later i made a trip to wal-mart alone and found a large bits kit for super cheap. so i had to pick it up even though i thought i was gonna get the choping block but she was ok with it cause the price and how much the stuff was by itself. Thats right $17.00 for 185pc kit.
Day 3 Not much done today but a little sanding, and cutting and glueing the fan hole in the fron panel, and finish cutting the front fan hole. Here are a few pics. More to come in the morning.
Day 6 After work and phisical therapy I did more sanding on the front cover and filled in the small little holes with Bondo spot and glazing puddy. While letting putty drying I pulled a blue led 120mm fan from a old PSU put in the front, then put the temp side panel on with a window with thermaltake 120mm fan, and powered it up with 2 120mm fans running of 5v and that baby was quiet I was happy. My plans are installing a 3 1/2" 4 fan controller. the other day while putting in the 120mm fan in the front I came across a small problem my 2nd hard drive will be a slight problem putting in. The fan is taking 1/4" to much space for it to fit. So I am thinking how to solve the HDD problem. More pics to come soon.

The fan is taking 1/4" to much space for it to fit. So I am thinking how to solve the HDD problem. I have been thinking putting them in the empty cd-rom spaces or make a hdd rack for bottom front of case. So i am asking whats everyones thoughts or ideas. I could really use them.
Day 7 Today after work I came home and started sanding finally got all sanding done with front panel and put 2 coats of primer on. after taking photos i smudge some of the primer thinking it was dry so i am bacl to sanding after it drys and add another coat tommrow.
Day 8 Today after work i put another coat of primer and 3 coats of gloss black on front panel finally its done. My next thing on this case is filling the hole that is in the red circle. I have a piece of metal i'm cutting and maybe have a guy at work to add few spot welds in the inside and use bondo to make it look smooth.
small update. been busy with family being sick and work. but i go the hole in the back case filled and looks not bad i just have to do some sanding.
Update. i sanded, bondo, and painted the frame royal blue over the weekend and here are the results. i have some painting to do with the inside of the side panels as you can see in this pic below. picture of the front with out the fan. my next goal is the lighting and the window. my Cold Cathode lights invertor case broke and i found a Altoids chewing gum metal box perfect size to put the inverter board in.
Make sure you dont put the inverter straight in the metal tin, because it will short out. (but im sure you knew that already) Nice bondo work, very inspiring.
i'm pissed one of my dual cold cath lights wire broke. As you can tell i am on avery short budget. if anyone have any spare blue cold cath lights please pm me.
